Started transition at 18, hormones at 19, and waited bloody ages for GRS surgery, (five years) for various reasons, butnow I'm six And a half years since transition and one year post op. Even now, the happiness of being transitioned and having my monstrous male ex parts being gone forever never gets old. I am eternally grateful.
It takes balls to go through SRS!

I am from sri lanka and I knew about hormones when I was 15 but couldn't get it by my self and I knew if I came out to my parents by that time I would ended up in a mental institution. 90s' in sri lanka was like 60s' in west. So had to wait till I finish my studies and tried hormone by my self when I was 25 and after 8 months my mother found out and took me to a psychiatrist to cure me. Luckily for me the psychiatrist told my family there is nothing to cure but had to sopped the hormones with the all the negative reaction from my family and  the inquiries about my changing looks from my friends. After finishing my Master's went abroad and worked for another two more years and after returning home announced my family I will transition.  So finally I was able to start HRT properly when I am 28 and year after full time.  For my surprise once I started the transition I had the support of my family and all my friends. I never lost a single friend.

I know I had the support of everyone and I am having everything because I have completed my studies and built my career first, but not a single day goes by without thinking How would I have been looked if I started hormones when I was 15 or 16, specially when I hear about girls who transitioned in their teens.

Not quite sure at what point I would consider my transitioning starting. About 8 months ago I went FT, legal name change and all, and then a couple of weeks later HRT, but I lived open as mtf trans for over a year and a half before that. My sense of time is abysmal, but these estimates should be about right. To me it's very difficult to find a special time where I would consider I started transitioning, as to me, transitioning did not start with a singular event.

I started HRT in July 2012 at age 37. Still presenting as a boy for now. So that's where I'm at :)

Started HRT and began coming out to family and friends at 29, 7 months ago. Still have a long way to go.

I figured out I needed to transition at 23, started HRT at 24, and promptly dragged my feet until I went full time at 28 about 6-ish months ago.

I started HRT when I was 33.  That's when I'll say transition started.

I started at 29 in June of 2012. I'm still transitioning even though I am full time.

I officially came out, without bottling it back up again, when I was sixteen. I started hormones right after my eighteenth birthday though (not due to choosing to wait, but state laws).
Meow.

I started at 40(9 years ago), then legal name change a couple years later which I suppose would really mark me going fulltime.

Wow envy those ladies who get SRS so quickly after transitioning. The NHS is so bad I've had to do everything myself. ¬.¬

Started hormones age 21 went full time at age 22  9months later. Currently 26 Still no SRS on the cards, (Well not from the NHS I've got enough now tho I WILL have it by the end of next year.)

I'm kinda having difficulties to comprehend the whole "transitioning" term because we don't really have anything equivalent of it in Finnish. Not even a literal translation (and it would sound plain idiotic anyway).
But I'll try anyhow.

2011 (age 21) - Came out to friends and family, started using male name and started the examination process required to get a diagnosis.
2012 (age 22) - Diagnosed with F64.0, legal name change, HRT started in December 10th.
2013 (age 23) - Top surgery

Still to come is changing my social security number (nitpicking, the end of it) and hysterectomy.
I've been thinking about bottom surgery but it's such a huge operation that I don't want to have it unless I'm at least 99,999999...% sure about it. And currently, I'm not. Besides, I don't need a "traditional" cockles to be a man. :P

Well... I'm 20, and so far I've only told close friends and my mother.

I'll save you the boring details, but also it's super unlikely that I'll start HRT before age 22.

Oh well.
