Just back from a freshen up session.  12 months since my last treatment.  Face now resembles the surface of the moon!

Omg I have my third session tomorrow and I'm slightly dreading It.. however I did get a heck of a rush from it.. I just kept trying to refocus the pain.. granted I had a beard that could give you splinters if you brushed up to it.. so I'm guessing that since most of the really thick stuff has been killed session three should be a little less painfull.. either way I'm popping a painkiller before and after... ooo. Flash backs to the cold swetas and shaking knees from session two... wish me luck tomorrow, I'll need it!

Painkillers is a good idea. I find laser is more shocking than painful - like touching an electric sheep fence. Had it this morning, came up red-faced afterwards (this happens sometimes, I've got thin skin) - whacking on the aloe vera :).

At my last check up i was asking questions about the HRT and laser of course came up along with a slew of other topics.. so I also asked if smoking weed was harmful and he said no.. then he joked that I may help with the laser pain.. so maybe gonna try rolling a 'j' for tomorrow.  At this point anything to get through it!

So long as the J doesn't make you more anxious beforehand :).

Oh no.. generally it doesn't make me anxious at all... well unless I see my ex or something.. i'd be more worried about it making me sleepy, granted laser first thing in the morning is better than coffee for a wake up! Last time I skipped the coffee and was yawning until the first pass, then I was WIDE AWAKE!

ive had my face, underarms and full brazilian done with laser.. i would say the full brazilian was the worst out of them. right now im gettting themolysis electroylsis and i am getting my few random hairs on my face and eyebrows done. i would say the electroylsis is 10x worse...especially on the eyebrows... so painful!

I prefer Electroylisis over the laser. hurts less in my opinion.

Oh well, at least you did not leave the clinic with four small burns on the moustache. The pain was unbearable. And after consulting a dermatologist, no laser in that area until it is completely healed. They will take a long time to heal and stop looking dark red. And that happened 23 days ago... Next session on September the 25th.

Oh, old thread.

Haven't you guys heard of EMLA cream? I personally don't use it because I've done laser for years and years and the pain now is nothing compared to the pain the beginning and I don't find electroylsis painfull at all.

I travel a lot, and have had laser on three continents... Thankfully at this point, it doesn't hurt very much because there aren't that many hairs left. But boy, that first one, yes the upper lip and chin with the highest density, was mindboggling. I always beg for and receive the lidocane cream or similar, left on for a good solid half hour before I let them touch me. Then, on the sensitive areas, I insist they do it pulse by pulse, with a good two second gap betwixt... I could never take the pace of the auto-zap around the mouth. But I'm as clear as anyone after about 10-12 treatments over a year and a half (a good 1500-2000 USD investment all up). Being on HRT and post SRS, I'm not getting new follicles so the laser is also effectively permanent.
Blessings,

can't be as bad as electrolysis, I want to cry every time she pokes closer to the tip of my nose.

If your not on hormones these things hurt alot less.  But once your on hormones, if you drink one beer the entire week save it for hair removal.  I find it numbs you slightly and is healthier than taking aspirin every week.

Removing hair hurts, if it doesn't without any input from you or a doctor.  Then hair is probably not being killed.

Of course some places more unbearable than others...

Speaking to my beautician today, clearly stated that as the laser gets more intense, to get rid of finer hairs, it needs to hurt to work.  If you feel that treatment wasn't too bad, the laser is probably on the wrong setting.

I don't think its that bad. I usually take around 600MG-800MG of ibuprofen 30 minutes before zapping session as well as avoid sugar two hours prior. I've had my entire body zapped (everything). I'm about $1,600 into it total. My laser tech gives a discount if you pay for everything up front. I didn't do that for the first couple sessions because I wanted to make sure it worked before I forked over money. So I should of been a wee bit cheaper but its whatevers. My neck and face is about 65% clear. Back is hairless now. Abs are hair less. Chest is 90% hairless. Just started the Legs, toes, Pits, Arms, hands, extra limb area, butt.

The feet hurt though because its raw bone. Its manageable though for me; I thought getting my tattoo hurt worse and I'm a sissy when it comes to pain but we all have different pain tolerances.

Props to you girl for going in and gettin' it done! :)

I had electrolysis.  Some areas were fine, but my upper lip hurt like almost nothing else.

Session number three in about four hours..  :-\  hoping since I'm starting to have less of those darn beard hairs that I won't have shaking knees from the pain today.. oh well, saves me the morning coffee

Due for my third session shortly and while painful it does not compare to the other pain we all have. Its only short term pain and I can live withthat based on the benefits that I can already see.
First session really hurt and only some hair fell out while the second was not that bad and made a huge difference. It has really slowed down the growth of what is left. ;D
Now there are only a few patches left which I hope will clear up soon before moving onto other areas.
I am very exited by the thought of getting rid of the hair once and for all as I have always hated it like most of us.
Have started exfoliating to get rid of the dead skin and regularly moisturising now majority of hair is gone.
So long and thanks for all the fish
