I always knew as a child that something was different about me.  My physical body did not match what my mind and spirit felt.  I was always attracted to girls.  I can still remember being about 7 years old and seeing a pretty girl on the playground at my school and wondering if we would be friends when we were older.  And as I aged, the attraction towards females grew stronger.  Boys were just someone to do guy stuff with.  But the girls were a different story.  And I let everyone know it because I didnt think or see that there was anything different or wrong with it.  Now, that isnt to say that the world and my family didnt see it my way.

I can remember in high school I told a friend of mine and her response to me ways that I "chose" to be a lesbian (that is what I was labeled).  I asked her "did you chose to like boys".  She had no reply.

We do not chose this transgender life.  We are born this way.  And there is nothing wrong with it.  It is a true testament of the compassion and love and understanding that is required of all us to give to each other, no matter what.

So be free and true to yourself.  and if others do not accept it, then that is their bad.  We live and die by own life's journey.  So either love me for what my spirit, mind and heart is or go on with your own life's journey.  Because I am living my life with or without you.

Hi and welcome.
Nice first post that sums things up pretty well. :)  Kids in school would call me a poofter, (60's Aussie slang) which didn't make sense as I liked the girls too.   Just didn't realise I was one myself, which I guess does prove I was gay all along.   Just not quite the way they thought.

Hi  Stealthy,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in and start talking.

I absolutely love your attitude and outlook on life. So many people in today's society are happy to accept mediocrity, which is just so debilitating to ones own inner core and spirit. You have had some interesting life experiences to come to that understanding.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me
