A TRANSGENDER pupil had to show her headmaster a copy of the Equality Act before he allowed her to sit a GCSE exam while wearing girls' clothes.

Ashlyn Parram, 16, turned up for her first examination in tights, skirt and blazer — but was told by teachers to go home and change into the boys' school uniform.

The furious teen printed off a copy of the law on sex discrimination, which includes specific legislation on the treatment of transgenders and transsexuals, and marched it straight to head Chris Wall's office.

Ashlyn Parram, 16, who was born a boy but is undergoing gender reassignment treatment, said that at first he was told he could not sit the paper because he was not wearing boys' uniform.

But he said headmaster Chris Walls backed down after he showed him a copy of the Equality Act 2010, which stated he had to be treated the same as other pupils.

Ashlyn, who was wearing make-up and hair extensions as well as a girl's uniform, claimed, however, that when he returned to the sports hall for the GCSE maths paper he was segregated from other pupils. He was put at the back of the room 40ft from everyone else.

Okay, the most shocking thing about this - apart from the "made her sit 40 feet away from everyone else" part (if that's true) - is that The Sun got her gender pronouns right. Wow. The Sun has really changed.

A TRANSGENDER pupil from a Boston school was allegedly denied the chance to sit an exam because of the way she was dressed – until she presented the head with a copy of the Equality Act.

Ashlyn Parram, who suffers from gender dysphoria, claims she was sent home by exam invigilators at Giles Academy in Old Leake when she arrived for the test wearing a girls' uniform.

So the 16-year-old says she printed out a copy of the law – which makes it an offence to discriminate against transgender people – and took it straight to headteacher Chris Walls.

She then says she sat the exam, but was separated from other pupils.

The school rejects the allegations, which attracted the national spotlight after being reported by The Sun and Daily Mail.

Then know they did wrong her and are held responsible for this teacher's discrimination action against her.
I am outraged such attitudes still exist hope sues them to teach them a lesson!!!

The Mail didn't get her pronouns right.

Sometimes I forget how much of a protected bubble Susan's and my own trans friends provide--until I read an article like that one that can't even get the pronouns right (or won't). Or until a cis friend who doesn't know about me is using the wrong pronouns about someone and confusing me all to heck.

Oh, The Mail's definitely doing it on purpose, it's SOP for them. This is why I was so surprised/impressed at The Sun (which used to be even worse).

Yeah, I expected the Sun to be obnoxious because I've seen them do it before (get pronouns wrong, I mean). I can't remember anything about the Mail.

Probably Rupert's editors trying to get goodie points before they get arrested?

Ofsted are going to look at it. I sent them an email from the other side of the world - suggesting that there might be a little bit of a problem having the Chair of the Board investigating a potentially embarrassing problem in his own school. Good people - they just needed some encouragement - like a copy of the email to the Office of Human Rights.
