I suppose I'm asking if my voice passes, but since I'm rather under the impression that it does, I am also looking for some feedback.

Totally female, no question. No one would sir that voice. Being honest no one would sir your "guy" voice clip either tho..

Does my singing voice pass? http://soundcloud.com/user963959415/singing

Okay honestly I hate my voice and I try really hard not to get depressed about it but as much as I want to sing, every time I do and then I think I sound okay until comparing it to the original song which makes me just feel horrible... I keep trying anyway and try to keep in mind that it is actually a really difficult thing to do and there's no reason to feel bad... but. Bleh. I just hate knowing that I will never have as pretty of a voice as a cis girl in the same position as me. If it were just about the pitch it would be okay but erasing a masculine timbre is so hard and strenuous :-\

Sorry to vent  :(
damn,
you can reach some pretty high notes! sounds good! The only thing is your singing voice can come off very meek.
I can see me
I can see you

Thanks  :) I think it is pretty meek.. unfortunately I have to sing in head voice to be comfortably in the same range where a lot of cis girls can just use their chest voice so I don't get that full natural sound :(

Here is a very recent voice recording that I did.  I honestly do not like how I sound (the tone is not right?) Any honest recommendations/suggestions is very welcome.  The good thing though is that this is becoming a lot easier for me to use my 'feminine voice' more/longer without strain.   Thank You in advance.

Hey Emily. Your voice sounds fairly good to me. You don't have to worry so much about your inflections (just remember you don't always need to rise in pitch at the end of a sentence, but being English I don't know if that's more of an American thing), and it sounds like you're able to get a decent pitch with good volume - a voice you can speak loudly with and not have it break.

There might be a small amount of male undertone there but I don't know if that's just me being hypercritical due to the fact I'm being asked to critique someone who I know is making an effort to speak a certain way. Probably me being overcritical, so don't worry!

I would say to remember to try to emphasise more with pitch and not volume, and that not every sentence needs to rise in pitch at the end.

I can hear some male undertones still, but then again I am very self critical about myself so I want to try to work on that still.  Someone suggested that I start using a spectrogram to help keep my frequency in the right range for females; which I am reading up on now.  I am willing to try anything right now and hopefully just make it sound feminine as possible.  Thank you though for the suggestions and I will work on that as well.

Hi Emily! I made some pretty quick progress with my voice and I recently explained a lot of the approaches I took when replying in another topic. I'm not sure, but if you're interested in reading them, they may help you: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,128157.0.html

It's a tiny topic, so it won't take any digging to find my post. It's only 3 down.
Why do I always write such incredibly long posts?

Acappella is not easy, but you make it sound easy.  That was a Disney song, wasn't it?

omg so sweet :3. What are you worried about? with your looks + voice I think even I'd be hard pressed to "clock" you (and I'm pretty good at clocking others).

Here's me, the rebel who hasn't done anything to change my voice. I'm probably going to get told I sounds like a guy, but as I state in the clip, this voice works for me..

Does my voice sound passable?

Male voice. Before transition
http://soundcloud.com/user569717311/male-voice

Female voice. What it sounds like currently
http://soundcloud.com/user569717311/female-voice

it's way too falsseto, you have to lower it and make it sound real.
I can see me
I can see you

Alice, that voice is way too high. You're making the classic 'Minnie Mouse' mistake of trying to speak in too high a pitch. Go to http://www.virtualpiano.net and give it a moment to load up. Press the A below middle C. It's the 13th white key from the left (A22 it should say in the display when you press it). That's the note that many MTF voice tutors get their clients to aim for as a baseline to work with. You can go even lower and still be in the female pitch range. Try talking around that pitch and see how it feels for you.

Nadine, the recording is really short and fairly quiet so it's hard to tell.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to watch the videos on youtube from CandiFla, they're pretty explanatory about bringing your voice down from your falsetto to a more natural feminine sounding pitch.

Nadine, your voice sounds pretty fem, not sure tho if that is because you are talking super soft or just the recording sounds that way. One of the mistakes I used to make was talking soft/breathy trying to sound feminine, which is does but no one can hear you and you can't speak up or you sound like a guy. Anyway, I think that voice would pass.

Alice, that voice doesn't pass. Sorry but that just sounds like mickey mouse. It's so falsetto that it has zero resonance. Even super high pitched females don't sound like that. IMHO practicing in falsetto is not how to develop a female voice. Pitch is just a small part of sounding female.

Hmm, it seems people have listened to my clip, but no comments?
