So. It's been i while and i have practiced to and from. I try to keep this voice right now and i feel kind of comfortable with it. Just wanted to hear if it could pass or if I need to work on something. I know it was a bit too low right at the beginning of the clip...
Oh and it's in swedish because I'm more comfortable with it right now...
I did not understand it, but it sounded excellent o.o

Does my voice pass at all?  Thanks for your comments.  Lori

Paigeme - I couldn't tell because the quality was pretty bad.
eloij - Your voice sounds androgenous to me - if you were presenting female I would regard your voice as female - you would pass.
I could not get it to work, sorry :/

Eloij- Very androgynous.
Lori2000ma- Your link doesn't work :(

another one that should be better quailty
I agree that it did seem like the words were slurred together a little, but it definitely sounded to be at a good pitch :) Also, I have found that there are issues with loading MP3 files to Vocaroo (it breaks up the sound quality). I now try to upload .wav files. Also, we might have a similar problem-- my recording device has difficulty picking up my voice :/

This reminds me that I need to practice more. I think I really need to work on how I enunciate and emphasize sounds. I also need to work on maintaining my pitch. I don't know if y'all have this problem, but I find that my voice drifts off to a lower pitch if I do not pay attention to it. I also have a fairly quiet voice. To me, it sounds very loud, but I recently learned that I am often hardly audible. I think this might be linked to the reason for why I cannot maintain my voice at an even pitch.

I'm sure I still have a long way to go, but what do you all think so far?

It sounds great! I am not sure if I sensed a little strain, but that just means you have to work with it more often :)
Also, multitasking:

That's a good start Anna.  The pitch and inflections are good.  As with others your sound clip is too short. Try reading a few sentences, or talk for a minute or two about what you did during your day, or whatever.  This way you can get into a flow.  You did sound a bit labored.  Try moving air more from the diaphragm.  This way you can sustain speech more naturally.

Your voice is sounding good Zeda.  A bit hard to hear though due to a soft recording.

Thanks Zeda, AusBelle!  Are there a few example sentences touching on all the important sounds people make?  I had no idea what to say once I started recording.  I'll keep practicing!

There probably are, but really I don't think you need anything special.  Just pick something you like and read it out loud.

Hitch hikers guide?

Try to slow down a little and concentrate on clearly pronouncing each word.  The rhythm is there, but needs to be developed more.  Keep working at your inflections.  Listen to the tv, radio, other women around you to get the feel for the rises and falls in each word.  But really, you are coming along nicely!  just keep practicing.

Another thing, breath from the diaphragm and speak from the throat.  Practice humming at various pitches  :)

Thanks for the tips!  I'll keep practicing.  And yes, it was H2G2 :)

Hi everyone.

Been a while since I posted anything. Not full time or anything yet so I am just practicing from time to time to make sure I do not regress, hopefully I still sound OK I got some good feedback before.
I quite like some of the parts of these recordings but other parts I think I have got a little monotone or have bad rhythm to my sentences. Anyway as I say in the files I would really appreciate any feedback so thanks a lot!

PS

Anna, hard to tell but your voice in the short clip had a quality to it that the longer recording did not have. It felt a bit more pinched or something, which was good in the way that it made it sound better, I think in terms of resonance. However to me it also sounded a little overly pinched, like you could tell it was not relaxed enough. I think you should try and copy the first recording there and then copy a short line from your second and try to tell the difference. Then try a bit more of a relaxed version of the first voice.

Course I am no pro and the first recording was pretty short. However I definitely had good sucess in listening back to bits of my practicing that sounded better than other bits and comparing them to worse bits to try and feel the difference.

@Seras: I did notice the monotone so maybe you just need to try to get some fluctuation in there? I am not sure of a decent remedy for it, though :/ I know for one practicing session that I did last week, I found some of the Harvard Sentence samples (by the way, I thought they said 'pig' instead of 'horse') and I compared my current voice to the recorded one. Using Audacity (a program) I found some issues on certain sound combinations and started to work on them that way.
Also, I am not familiar enough with the accent, so I cannot really distinguish male from female voices easily unless the voice is significantly deeper or higher than normal :P

@MidnightKat: Wow o.o

It sounds a little nasally, but that could just be how you voice works. My 'normal' voice isn't typically nasally, but when I try for a female voice, I typically have to take some time to remove a nasal sound that I naturally fall into. Aside from that, it sounds good :)

My spouse says it is too monotone and a little bit nasally. I think the first five seconds were fairly good (I am not sure precisely how it sounds different from the rest), so your pitch is good. I guess you should just work on the monotone and see if you can work past the nasal sound (my spouse says it doesn't sound interesting enough :P ).

How do you all read me?
Again, it sounds a bit nasally, but I think you just need to soften your voice a little without adding too much breathiness. Your pitch sounds right, so keep it up!

Oooookay, I finally plucked up the courage to post something here and, of course, it's really goofy.
I don't think this is the best recording, but I did laugh hard enough upon listening to get over my shyness and post it, so hopefully I'll get a better recording uploaded soon.
Anyway, I'd love some feedback.  My voice certainly isn't where I want it to be, although I seem to get by these days, I know there's still a looooonnngg way to go.
Thanks everyone.
