So, my name is Alexa/Lexi... and started transitioning in October/November of 2011.

I've been in counseling since December, and am FINALLY starting HRT.

On the 19th, I had my first meeting with my endocrinologist, and she started me on Spironolactone/day, just to see how I would react. I have an appointment with my counselor tomorrow, and she's going to write a letter to my endo so that she can start putting me on estrogen/estradiol (meaning I'll be starting estrogen on the 19th of Oct).

Anyway, that's very exciting (:
I'm just curious about what results I can expect within a few months of being on HRT (Physically and mentally).

Just from the spironolactone, I noticed that I've been sleeping more, and I definitely have to use the bathroom more often lol.

Also here are some pictures, just to ease anyone's curiosity. (:

Doesn't even look like you need it  ;)

You look amazing already!
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

Aw, thank you (:

I do think I already look very feminine, and I don't have any trouble passing in public... but as many people do, I have major self esteem issues. Just little things I've picked out about myself bother me...

I know the basics of what HRT does... breast development, fat redistribution, lesser body hair, decreased muscle mass, etc... I'm just wondering if there are any changes that most people don't tell you about before starting?

I just started myself so I probably wont be much help  :-\

I know its different for everybody but in the last few days since starting my skin has gotten a lot softer and my body hair overall has gotten thinner, disappeared as well as slowed down in terms of growth.

Mentally my mood changes quite often up and down. One minute ill be happy and bubbly and the next ill be grouchy and bitchy.

Current picture:

Awww thanks  :D

I know what you mean. When I started it was a huge relief like I had just saved my own life.

Now the waiting is the hardest part..

Lexi, the first thing I noticed were your beautiful eyes.

Second, keep in mind the spironolactone was developed as a diuretic ("water pill") that was found to have mild anti-androgenic properties.

You may wish to review some of the past topics in the HRT forum, as they discuss some of the issues that interest you.

Thank you so much! I actually appreciate hearing it more from other TS people. I'm not sure why, exactly... but I do. :P
