Out of all of you. If your straight guy crush and best friend was struggling, would you put off ur transition a little while to help him out? Or is it just me?
Best friend struggling - would I put off transition to help with funds? No. I would offer my advice, my encouragement, my couch, a piece of my sandwich and half of my beer, laundry services, my time, a ride to the employment office... whatever I felt was appropriate for one adult to do for another adult that they care about. But put off medically (including mental healthically) necessary treatment? NO. Just like I wouldn't allow my friend to put off their hernia operation, or go without their migraine medication, to help me out.
Crush struggling - would I put off transition to help with funds? Absolutely no. Entangling financial support and hopes of romance is b-b-b-bad road. "Money can't buy you love. No No No No No", I think the Beatles sang. Rescue and love don't mix outside of fairy tales.
There can be many things worth sacrificing to do something for a friend. But sacrificing your mental or physical health is never one of them. And transition issues aside, friendships can die when one does too much or the wrong thing. Somebody ends up feeling resentful, or controlled, or something, and distance grows where closeness used to be.
