The Oakland diocese's Gay and Lesbian Outreach Ministry Team will hold "an evening of discussion and reflection for parents and friends of gay and lesbian persons" on May 17, the diocesan newspaper Catholic Voice announced on April 23. The event at St. John Vianney Church in Walnut Creek will "facilitate greater understanding and respect for persons with a homosexual orientation in their parishes while making it clear that the Church does not condone or support homosexual behavior," said the Voice.

Does anyone realize how well individuals can conceal what goes on in their mind?  Statistically 10% of the general population can fall in the category of "gay".  If a man shows no interest in a woman then the statistic will probably increase.  If a priest never marries then probably more priests are "gay" then the general population.  For argument's sake lets say 20% or 1 in 5 priests is gay.  Now in order to "conceal" your feelings you must appear to agree with the general population.  The oxymoron is very clear in that the Church will facilitate greater understanding ...while... not supporting.  Hmm.
