Micron Technology spurns LGBT job protections

Micron Technology, Inc.'s board of directors has refused to accept a shareholder resolution to change the Boise, Idaho, company's policies so employees cannot be fired on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The resolution filed in June by New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. on behalf of the New York City Pension Fund System received 55 percent of shareholder votes at Micron's annual meeting in December.
