A few days ago, my friends talked about a music video titled 'Gangnam style', which already became popular in youtube.

It was funny to watch, but the music video contains a lot of symbolism and satire, making me wonder whether foreigners can understand the context. Its main message is about materialism, but also touches BDSM, homosexualism and crossdressing, too. The singer previously published two albums, but they were banned by conservative government officals for the reason of improperness. Now, he has internet and youtube that do not require any censorship from our government.

I like the first one, Barbie.     Too bad I have no idea what he is saying.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Translation is avaialbe at:

The lyric is simple and repetative, but still a little bit difficult to understand its context for foreigners.

In a live performance, the dynamic sound and dance is awesom. Another version is 5-drum dance, but I could not find any nice video. I think the following is a little bit better.

My favourite parody of Gangnam Style:

"Fear cuts deeper than swords."
