A transgendered woman who stabbed a male friend to death will have to spend 12 years in jail before she can apply for parole.

Thomas Roy Forster, 35, pleaded guilty to the June 2010 second-degree murder of Zachary Waller, 21.

On Friday, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Terry Schultes imposed the mandatory life sentence on Forster, a sex trade worker who was undergoing hormone therapy at the time of the slaying.

"I would characterize this as massive, frenzied and protracted explosion of violence at a sometime romantic partner, following sexual contact, fuelled by anger and by statements by the partner of his ongoing commitment to another woman, said the judge.

Forster's lawyer outlined a difficult upbringing for his client. She was raised by adoptive parents but left home at one point, becoming addicted to crack cocaine and working as a male prostitute. She returned home but went back to the sex trade, advertising herself on Craigslist as a transgendered sex trade worker under a female pseudonym.

Why did they have to put "transgender" in there? It's not like they're the only women who have done this...

That's exactly what I thought too when I saw it in the Province. Way to ruin our image even more =/
Day by day, in every way, I am getting better and better. And so are you!
