I just really don't like these girly men society is raising today
Maybe you might be more comfortable in a different culture.  I hear Somalia is real butch.  Lots of guns, almost as many as Texas.  And 'society' ain't doing nothing, people make choices.  You can like their choices, dislike their choices, or be apathetic as all get out (my personal choice) about them - pretty much makes no difference.  Opinions about society and 50 cents can get you a phone call, if you can find a pay phone anymore.

I mean, really, what exactly bothers you?  Not enough Hell's Angels, gangbangers and violent felons about these days?  Is football in jeopardy because all the guys have gone soft and now want to play canasta instead?  Are all the bars and brothels closing?  Not enough Harley-Davidsons, and mid-life crisis sports cars being sold?  While it might be true that violent crime is dropping, its' because today's modern now a go-go man is into the white collar crime wave - all the loot and none of that pesky jail time.

What's wrong is that you feel it's your place to tell men - or anyone - how to act. I think I'm going to carry a fruity little handbag with me tomorrow. I know you won't really care but it makes me feel better to think that I'm being spiteful  :)

Ok, please don't take my comment too seriously, people. I don't care to tell people how to act, and I don't consider manly to mean running around toting guns and sports cars (What planet do you live on?). That sounds more savage//primitive to me. I just mean that I don't like those guys who have to have Purell with them everywhere they go and who get mani-pedis every week.

I just don't associate with these sorts of people. I don't tell anyone how to act. Except this--> Calm down.

And a fanny pack?  Really?  Unless your jogging along the coast or skiing up in the Sierras I can't think of any appropriate use for them in this state unless you're trying to pretend you're from Ohio or something.

Ok...Ok.. screw the fanny packs. Just my piratical side coming out. But still i see woman ( from Ohio) struggle with purses weighing in at 15lbs+. I think their a pain in the neck/ shoulder and then you have one less hand to use. Hence the practicality of a bag that straps to your hip. Start a fashion trend...

Ok, I'll settle this. The ultimate blend of practicality and manliness. Military backpacks.

Maybe it depends on where your from? In seems bags & backpacks are common place theses days. People take them to school, work, shopping, ect. As far as it going from a backpack to "man purse" I think depends on the style. Messenger bags & backpacks should be fine. I would stay away from current/new military/tactical stuff, it can make you look like a "mall ninja". Older military stuff from WWll usually is kinda considered stylish/cool.

Also, your activity at hand can make a difference. If your going out to a club or a dinner party and your carrying a bag it may look "off".

Good luck......

Just note that if you're interested in this one, the velcro strap for the laptop will wear the divider down over time.  I'm thinking of sewing a velcro pad into place to help the divider last longer.  I do joke about it and call it my man-bag, but I've had no one call me gay or effeminate.

I never thought of this as girlish, but it depends on where you live.

I have owned two purses through my lifetime, and they both looked similar to this one, just more... "pursish" in size. XD I only got them because they were the least girly handbags I could find that were still actually handbags, which I had use for.

Went and got me a ticker, so everytime I post I'm reminded to put down whatever I was about to eat. >.>

*lol*  People have said that I look young for my age, especially since I started HRT.  I didn't want to use a backpack because I looked too much like a university student when I use one, so that's why I switched to a messenger style bag.

Due to the hyper-masculine environment I work in, I try my best not to do anything else (on top of HRT, longish hair, laser hair removal) to look any more fem than I am, before I drop the bomb on everyone.

My team travels around the world and I outfit them in 5.11 clothing and 5.11/Maxpedition bags for a professional "Spec-Ops" look. I have had the following bag for over a year and it is in as good of condition now as when I bought it and it has seen a lot of travel. It kinda works out as my purse and computer bag. They have a lot of other really nice stuff as well.  A lot of the Maxpedition and 5.11 gear is a bit "pricey" but I save money paying $50 for a shirt or pair of pants for my team becasue they last 5x longer than a $20 equivalent and the guys and other girl on the team (another member from this board) look sharp and professional.

I think this is where I should show everyone the exact bag I want and the only thing I plan on getting. I appreciate the references to these other bags, but once I saw this one I knew that I was going to have as soon as I had the money saved up.

That bag you posted reminds me of this guy:

I haven't heard anyone say he seems gay or effeminate.

I'd avoid anything that looked to SWATish, or military, unless you're in a combat zone.  It for year round, not just Halloween, so I think he should stick with the leather one, that looks big city all the time.  It's more serious, not costume.  Just like I'll stick with the Timbuk2 stuff, it's designed for exactly what I use it for, so it not only makes sense, it looks sensible, serious even when I'm riding.

Tactical picnic basket  :D

That's my bag! lol   I travel a lot and it has really come in handy. There are hidden pockets all over it and I think it took me a month or two to find them all. I can carry two laptop along with lots of other stuff when I have to.

That is one crazy bag. If I need that much space, I could maybe dig on it.

I'm going to get this bag instead, by the way. I like the fact that it's twice as deep as my last option and it even looks a little better.
