We have been getting many reader comments to transgender issues during the past few days. I thought I would highlight them for you in one post. I'll post more here as they come in. (One new one added at top 9:39 a.m. Tuesday)

On the transgender word

Hello, Jillian.

I noticed your column / posts (whatever you call it these days) a couple of months back and been following it ever since (even though I'm UK based, not Canadian – although that's mattering less and less these days.) Really enjoying the open, and fundamentally sensible viewpoint on a difficult and complex subject. A huge 'thank you' for that.

On the word "transgender" being used as a noun instead of an adjective

1. Dear Jill,

I do not mind at all being referred to as trangender or transgenders. I know for those who do not know what this is like there is confusion and hard to select terms. I find it totally unoffensive and a good term for me and my friends. Hope this helps
