FBI seizes transgender couple's computers in Pitt bomb-threat investigation

A Cambria County couple under scrutiny in the University of Pittsburgh bomb-threat investigation said today that FBI agents served them with a search warrant Wednesday night and seized a personal computer, a laptop computer, a cell phone, a computer router and CDs from their apartment.

Seamus Johnston, 22, said about eight agents arrived at the apartment in Jackson he shares with Katherine Anne McCloskey, 56, about 7:30 p.m. The agents had a search warrant but Mr. Johnston said he asked for an affidavit of probable cause linking the couple to the crime being investigated.

The Federal agents returned the next day and drove Seamus and me out of our home. When we were allowed back in our apartment had been trashed. The agents had carted of literature belonging to the Social Democrats, USA-Socialist Party, USA. an organization for which Seamus and I volunteer time. On neither occasion did the federal agents produce a affidavit of probable cause and only gave us the warrant after the search. I actually counted 12 gun waving agents followed by 6 investigators. During the first raid--FBI, Secret Service,--The entire Joint Terrorism Task Force were all there. During the second raid they were accompanied by the State and Township police. Our computers and Seamus cell phone were returned. Six moths later the rest of what was seized is still in government hands. Nothing like being outed to the the entire world two weeks into transition.  I would imagine I will see the federal agents again when I sue the bastards. More later.
