Here is a question for those who are knowledgeable about such things.

DHT is synthesized from Testosterone and causes male pattern baldness. When T levels drop due to either hormone treatment or GRS, do DHT levels drop as well? Since only 5% of T gets converted to DHT, will there be less DHT about or will the body make as much as it ever did because there is still enough T for it to do that.

Next, if DHT levels do drop does that mean that male pattern baldness treatments such as Procepia and Minoxidil can be stopped because whatever hair they have restored will no longer be poisoned by DHT or by considerably less DHT?

In a nutshell, if my T levels drop to female-normal can I stop hair treatment without all the regained hair dropping back out again?

I cannot comment on the science but I've decided to be conservative and do what some other women I've met did - continue Minoxidil and Propecia until after SRS. If I knew more, maybe I'd stop the propecia but the minoxidil is a vasodilator that simply enhances blood flow to a region. Because of that, I've not decided but I may very likely continue Minoxidil 5% treatments the rest of my life. I know that Minoxidil is also recommended after hair transplants to give the hair the maximum survival chances too.

Yes, DHT would also decrease, and thus the slow down of male pattern baldness. There is even anecdotal cases of hair regrow ht, specially in girls that keep up with the propecia and minidoxil combo; so do not drop the ball girl!
