While LGBT advocates see Spitzer's intentions as a step in the right direction, this wouldn't be the first time that the Governor has waffled a bit on this particular campaign promise.

As he stumped for votes, he said that he was going to push for the legalization of gay marriage within his first year in office.

But, when he took office, critics charged that the issue gay marriage was mysteriously absent from his list of initial priorities.
