Long story short. I broke up with my controlling lover after she got a little violent last week. She only did a "Ross Mirkarimi" (look it up) but still it was enough to ask her to get help before we can see each other again.

As well, my house mate's son acts out when David goes out of town to see his LA woman, which he did Friday night...so, worried that my X might stalk me--I decided to find a cheap but decent hotel--so here I am in Tracy....getting my schoolwork done. I finished my GWS125 essay on The Children's Hour...still have seven History 132B essays to read and analyze before Monday...but maybe I can do that tomorrow.

Anyway, I feel like I am in a Dwight Yoakim song...this place reminds me of a small version of Bakersfield but I love the classic country songs they play on the AM station here. Really, nothing going on. The motel clerk even called it a Ghost Town. I went downtown earlier and wanted to stop at this sports bar (to find a restroom) then I realized that not only was it closed but it was CONDEMNED!

Ewww I hope you don't actually sleep on the sheets, eh?

They probably have something on them and aren't you a dyed-in-the-wool lesbyterian?
I can see me
I can see you
Are you me?
Or am I you?

I watched the housekeeper change the sheets myself. In any case, that would be the least of my worries after all that I have been through in my life.

BTW do you have any idea what a really nice room ANYWHERE in the Bay Area costs?

Besides that, this room is very clean...small but nice and I am really enjoying the solitude and freedom.

I would have recommended staying at the Metropolitan Hotel in South San Francisco, the rooms are clean, the manager is very nice and its a nice smaller version of the big city and its $175 a week for non residents, $140 for residents of california. This is where I was staying while looking for an apartment and the manager of the place (Nancy) has a cousin who is transgender, so I think you would like it there if you need a place to get away. Its near the sams trans 292 route and bart so you could easily get to school in berkeley within 1 hour. If you want the addy and phone let me know.

Tracy is not too bad. I got my first tattoo at a Hell's Angels party there. I thought it was a fun town.  >:-)

Damn, I went all the way to Mozambique to get away. Maybe a hotel would have been a better option...lol.   Seriously, I hope you can quickly work out your situation for the best.

I'm lucky that I can go to the cabin if I want to get away!  I just go through Bakersfield.  I did stop there for breakfast at a Denny's once and was served eggs undercooked.  Fresno's fleabags may be better, my brother is there.  Fresno is close to Yosemite, Kings Valley and Sequoia National Parks.  Also a good day trip to Monterey.  I've been to Yosemite 3 times, Monterey twice and the others once during visits with my brother.  Places to really get away!

Why did you go all the way to Tracey? It is a bit far from Berkeley.

I wanted to feel like I was going "somewhere."

It is only 30 minutes away and I have never had a bad experience at any Motel 6 and I have stayed in many in my travels all over this great country. So I needed a room to get away and study and the one in Tracy was the cheapest. (1/2 of the cost of the Motel 6 in the Tenderloin) I had a really relaxing time and wound up writing a really good essay for GWS 125. I did 30 minutes of sight-seeing and there is really nothing there except a really cool Grocery Outlet that sold flaxseed milk. (I am a vegan and I had never had flaxseed milk, it was great!)
