Mother shares story of her transgender daughter.

"We don't use the word normal. We use the word average. Because normal is pretty relative," she said.
James, a PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Omaha board member and the national PFLAG central region director, shared her story at Zion United Church of Christ Thursday night about raising her 12-year-old transgender daughter, Katie, during the "Created in the Image of God" discussion.
"From the time (Katie) was 4, she said, 'This is how God made me, and if people have a problem with it, that's their problem,' " James said to a packed house that filled the church pews.
