Nathan.

Today I got a letter saying i'm getting my hysto on the 21st!  :o

The problem is that I haven't told my boss that i'm trans and really don't want him to know, so I don't know what to tell him. Anyone have any idea what surgery I can tell him i'm having?

Just tell him you are going to be out for personal medical reasons that you would rather not discuss.

wheat thins are delicious

You don't have to tell him anything other than you need to be out for medical reasons.  If he presses it, I would tell him surgical hernial repair.

Congraduations on getting your hyst.  I would love to be getting in too.  What kind are you getting, you are having everything out I expect.  I would tell them some type of surgery where you will be restricted on how much you can lift for a period of time.  Is it being covered by insurance?

Thanks for the advice everyone!

In the end on advice from the nurse at the pre op, I went with bowel surgery as the recovery time is similar and she said people aren't likely to ask about it thinking it's bowel.

Congratulations! And, I think Brooke (among others) pretty much nailed it.
