Ways to pay for Transition

As I am brainstorming my own, I just thought I would see what some of the other ways that were used to transition. Kinds of Jobs, Insurance, Odd Jobs, Credit, Loans, Student Loans, etc?

Well a job that is in an area that is accepting of different types of people is a good start. Or your own business.

You may have problems in heavy industry type positions that are 'typically' male. Although I note that in Australia many of the drivers of those giant dump trucks at the mines are female; better drivers .

But to be honest, live your dreams, just because you need SRS to make you appear more like your true gender doesn't really change anything, life is life.

Once you have been there you are just another woman, it's no big deal, in fact it is no deal at all. It's just life.

OK I'm a lot happier, but my life hasn't really changed, my work hasn't changed, my jokes are as bad as ever, I wear far nicer clothes and get my hair done and the woman's toilets at my work are a lot cleaner. But otherwise, no big deal.

I've always looked at transition as being true to myself. You have to do the things you love, with the people you love, as the person who you were meant to be

health care job. you can moonlight to make the cash in under a year

I have cut out lots of stuff to save up the money, I no longer pay rent or own a car for example. I am finding the sacrifices a bit hard, but I am not one to be discouraged easily.

If it's an option or fits well with your future plans, I believe all UCs (Universities of California) cover the bulk of trans related surgeries. Just a though.

I cut out a lot of unnecessary stuff as well. I paid off my credit cards, got rid of my truck,. So no more insurance to pay, no more gas, nor more upkeep. Wow that thing was expensive:) Only thing I pay for is well except the rent, utilities, food, and such. My employer pays for my bus pass so I take the bus everywhere. To work, to the doctor, to the electrolysis, etcetera.

It really depends on what you want to sacrifice as in terms of money. What you can live without essentially.
