So I'll start with easy stuff. I am 19 years old and currently live in Athens, GA.   I joined this sight because of a huge struggle I am currently undergoing.

My entire life I have struggled with my gender. In fact I thought I was a boy for, quite some time before I realized what a girl was. I have lived through the years after that struggling in between male and female. Around High School I tried to put on a face for everyone and be the girl I was born as. However, I feel trapped. It's a suffocating feeling to just show this lie to everyone and pretend that I love it.

Now moving to Athens with very supportive friends I want to do something I truly want. Surgery. I tried just dressing the part. I actually cosplay males and have gone hours of painful binding. While I love what it looks like, the fact is still there that on paper there is an F not an M. I have decided to somehow try and afford (to start with) FTM top surgery.

I have no idea where to start, what to do, but I know it's for me. I was hoping someone on here could help me. Email me or anything. I am truly lost and can't really talk to many people about it around here.

I am scared that if I do this wrong, it will come out horrible and I will be even more humiliated and miserable. But I don't think I can deal any longer living a lie. I think if I can talk about it with people who know what to do, I can feel a little better and find a place to help me.

Hi Trent.  Athens, GA, as I recall, is a college town.  You should be able to find a number of supportive people and groups.  If you are a college student, you may be able to get counseling and support through your student health services.

Sadly I am not a student. Just someone who is living there because they are more acceptable towards multiple people in a smaller duplex.
However, I am looking around for information on the process.

I know a ton of transguys in GA. There are special clinics there for trans folk that you can google that will get the ball rolling no prob.

I don't live in Georgia (might in the future) but I've heard quite a lot about this clinic that supposedly is cheap and they work on a sliding scale fee. Best of luck to you.

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Taking your time in this process will ensure it doesn't go wrong for you. It's not a race and there is no right way to transition. Plenty of wrong ways of course, but that's universal. Finding a supportive network of friends will go a long way, as will the same thing here. The best part of Susan's family is, we're open 24/7.
