I personally looked for a therapist specializing in GID and went straight there first. I'm in the US though, so our rules might be different. I find the therapist to be more blunt than most are. They don't try to sugar-coat anything. They tell it how it is and that's been really helpful to me. Some of the questions you listed are things that I look to my therapist for answers to. They can be a great resource on coming out, finding support groups, gaining confidence, providing contact information for trans-friendly resources like hair styling, makeovers, voice training, etc.
