Hormone costs?

I'll be starting hrt on the 18th and was wondering if anyone could give me a idea of the prices you pay for your meds. Reason im asking is im not a big fan of pills (dont sit well with me) and i was wanting to get a idea of the differences in what yall are paying (without insurance) for pill/ patch/ or inj.  Im leaning toward patch but i dunno yet. THX!

Around here, without insurance, the generic of the Climara patch is $75 for a month's supply, the brand-name Climara is $150, and brand-name Vivelle Dot is $250. I know, ouch. (Vivelle also comes packaged so as to be changed twice a week [meaning, 8 patches to a box] and Climara does not, so that price is for two boxes of Climara or only one of Vivelle. I'm not sure if it makes any difference for uninsured prices, but it does for someone with insurance - 2 copays per month versus 1.)

Depends on the regimen too. Ordering thru a well known online pharmacy, that I won't name because a great many self medicate who order from there, I pay about $35 a month for a starter level dose, with no progesterone.

Now, from that same place with micronised progesterone and average doses it would be closer to $50 a month for me. Note, that Is all pills.

Patches and gels tend to be more pricey, local pharmacies actually tend to be cheaper than the place I have been ordering from too. Generics at Costco FTW! I don't know anyone personally who pays over $50 a month for a pill regimen, regardless of where they get them from.

I am currently without insurance. I live in the US.  I pay $15 for my E and $80 for my Spiro. That is a one month supply of both. I take pills. When I still had insurance I paid about $20 for both. Pills are generally the cheapest form.  My first 2 months I was on the Vivelle-Dot patch and it was $50 just for the patches with insurance.

Let's see, On local shops the monthly supply of estradio valeriate costs me around 5,70€ (70 cents with a prescription). Online... Around 5€ more or less, doing some calculations about the price per pill. The biggest issue is that is quite difficult to obtain the drugs without a prescription, locally.

Androcur would be at 30€, and 7€ with prescription.

Spiro, I get it online, and more or less it would cost me 20€ per month


So, more or less, monthly cost: 20+5+50. 75€.



This last one is from Dutasteride, if you have issues with hair. Add 10€ of minoxidil... This is is expensive, not to mention moisturisers, cleaning products... I hope one I will be given the OK on the clinic, prescription... And free boobies in a future.


PS: I'm supposed to get a prescription for finasteride in March, but.. With the crisis you just get a "black prescription". Meaning that you are allowed to buy it, but at full retail price. Almost as expensive as my Dutasteride I get from... You don't want to know.

I take pills, and all of my dosages are typical for a pre op mtf on a full regime.

For the meds alone, I pay $12 / mo for Estradiol 17b, $10 for Finasteride (both from Walmart), and $10 for Spiro (from Rite-Aid).

I'm in the US and  monthly for my three scripts, Spiro, E and Fin I pay just about $36.

Does anyone on here take dutasteride? Thinking of switching to that once I start HRT, but I'm a bit worried about how much that will cost compared to finasteride...

I take Estradiol & Spiro pills. I get no more than 5 refills for each prescription & I'm able to get all my refills at one time for the price of one. The Estradiol is $10 & the Spiro is $12, so $22 in total is what I pay.

I use medco mail order for a three month supply of my mones, prometrium, spiro and fin I pay $215.00

I'm on fin. I get generic fin, in stead of proprecia.  I get a month supply for $9 at Walmart.

Orchi is def the right step to take. If I don't have my srs scheduled within a year i as well will have Orchi done. These 9 pills a day (including my multi vit) for the last 5 years is getting old.......ugh

Can you get implants? They don't seem popular in the USA but are common in Aussie Land. I pay about $150 for a 4 month implant and about (I forget) $50 for the 'surgery'. A small nick under a local and one stitch to close. That's for E. BTW.

Really good because you don't have to take pills or anything and the levels seem to be very stable in the body.

I know we have implants for birth control, but I have only known one person to use it, so for whatever reason it seems rather unpopular.

I'm located in Los Angeles, and I just began HRT with the pellet implants 6 days ago. As Cindy mentioned they last 4 months, and ended up costing me $50 per pellet (I chose to do 7 pellets to start, they charged me for 6). So it was $300 for the pellets and there was no charge for implanting them... Also he just steri stripped me closed, I had no stitches + no pain. Just had to wear a small gauze patch on my bum for a few days which was kind of annoying in the shower- trying not to get it wet was hard. I also got a progesterone shot which was $130 (and has to be done every 2 months).

So far so good on the implants, my mood has been very stable and I am simply enjoying the hell out of the "calm". The lack of needing an every day regimen for hormones is already great, not that it would stop me if the implants weren't an option
