Transgender children's book helps explain why Daddy is now a Mommy

It's one thing to explain changing your gender to your teenager, but how do you explain it to a five-year-old?

Winnipeg Compliance Officer Rikki Marie-Josée Dubois was almost faced with this problem at 45 years of age when she decided to transition from male to female.

Her children were already teenagers at the time.

"I was able to talk to them more on an adult basis, but I thought, what about the five or six-year-old?" said Dubois.

Dubois noticed there were no books about transgendered people for children, although there were children's books that dealt with homosexuality. With that in mind, she penned a new children's book, Muffy Was Fluffy (right).
