In this thread let us discuss the means in which the human race would fight off a possible alien invasion.

Races allowed to attempt their defeats of us.

Greys-very scientific, see us as cattle to be experimented on
White aliens-savage and very aggressive
Predators-Hunt us, not very social with others of their own race in terms of the hunt
Xenomorphs-primitive, aggressive, see us as a food/means to expand their own
any others outside timelords, that's just not fair ya know? Also no psychlos cause those guys are just plain idiotic. They are the equivalent of Emory and Oglethorpe.

In a time of alien invasion we as humans would have to come together and fight them off, or would we still have our own infighting in a time of great calamity? Would our militaristic race succeed? Would we lose? Discuss even though this is the transgender talk, the science forums didn't feel right tbh.

I would hope we band together to fight off the Daleks.  I've gone this far not getting EX-TERM-IN-ATED, and I plan to keep it that way!

It would've been more suited to General, but it's fair enough that the thread will get more exposure in this neck of the forums.

Anyway, if an alien race wanted to conquer our world there wouldn't be all that much we could do about it. They could stay out of range of our missiles, and simply spread disease on the planet. Chances are small of us developing immunity, so we all perish.

They could engineer a silicon-based virus, too. We'd have no chance against something like that.

Biological warfare would be the most efficient method of mass-destruction while leaving the planet intact. They could do it without us ever knowing they were here - one day, some crazy pandemic would pop up, wipe us all out, and we'd be none the wiser. So, it's unlikely that we would therefore decide to destroy the planet with our missiles as we died.

Maybe we could whip up a quick batch of Nitro-9?  Or aim paintballs at the eyestalk?

Virus sounds good but one would think the greys would like to preserve us if possible, also the others wouldn't have that kind of tech :O

Well, biological warfare is the only for-sure method. Good problem - how to preserve a small group of the race?

Well, they could just try to infect as many places as they could with exception to either parts of Africa, Antarctica, Greenland, or other places with little to no access to advanced weaponry. Whoever's left over after the pandemic has subsided can be test subjects.

The other races would have more problems with destroying humanity. If they could fire upon us from space, out of our missile range, they would have a rather large advantage. It would take time to develop the technology necessary to fire missiles into space. If they had enough ships, they could destroy most of civilization before that technology had a chance to be born.

Whether humanity will destroy the world or not so that neither race will be able to inhabit the planet is unclear. I don't know enough about humans to say.

If an alien race had to enter our atmosphere to wage war, they wouldn't be likely to succeed. They could perhaps make progress if they knew how to create wormholes wherever they wanted, but without a steady supply of soldiers their assault would be crippled very quickly. We would sustain considerable damage, but we would be 'victorious'.

Depending how advanced and long-lived they are, they may take the time to infiltrate our society with alien-human hybrids.  Anybody could be an alien, and that would give them an element of surprise.

Any Aliens that can overcome the physics issues involved in interstellar travel would have the technology to exterminate us without us even knowing they existed.  No match and humans would go out with a whimper.

Not necessarily, if they come they will have other reasons for visiting. Resources, the powers they would have to destroy an entire planet would render their reasons for coming moot.

Wow.....aliens? Is that any way to talk? What happened to "friends we haven't met yet"?

Our only chance against aliens would be for humanity to come together and become space travelers ourselves, we must reach for the stars with all of the available resources we can. It would start by spreading out within our own solar system.

So we perfect space travel, would we become those aliums in all our favoritist movies?

I think if Aliens decided to have anything to do with us it would be to decimate us and terraform our planet for their own needs. Our moist warm environment and bodies would be a perfect vessel for their offspring.

We can't get along as a species as it is so a takeover by them would be relatively simplistic for them, especially if they had the technology to get here in the first place.
