Just be brave and wear whatever the hell you like :) there are so many fashion labels that specialize in andro clothing it's not funny. Honestly, what you're about to discover is, 99.9% of the population don't give a ship about what you're wearing or presenting as. Seriously, nobody actually cares how you dress, people are too worried about their own stuff.  Also, hang out with hipsters, your social awkwardness will be seen as post-ironic satire and they'll all think you're super cool, also being a hipster, you'll be able to wear purple leggings and v-neck vests :)

Hi,

You kinda seem to wanna do what I have been doing. I have not even got hormones yet (like you seem to) and I am not near crazy to go outside all dressed as a woman cause I would just look ridiculous. I have made some changes though.

First I tried full on makeup but that was not so useful, since it is quite obvious your wearing makeup when you are, to me at least. So I bought myself some BB cream which has some tint to it and goes really easy with a lot of skin types.  You could probably find something similar, it is quite nice since it evens out your skin a lot. This is very useful for me since I have very pale skin but kinda blotchy in places.

I also have some girls jeans, but not tight or anything. They are boyfriend cut, IMO tight ones would not exactly be andro. Even so they are a lot nicer than guys ones.

Since it is winter over here I got myself a new jacket recently too which is really cool. Also it only really looks female if you zip it up so it is tight around you. If I feel a bit too self conscious I can just unzip it and it is a lot less obvious.

At first I was too scared to try all these at the same time and I would just do one or the other but over time I have gotten a lot more confident and now regularly go out with all that stuff on and got no negativity. Though this guy in the bookstore did look at me kinda funny 2 days ago :P Wearing one piece of girls clothes with all the rest your regular crap, I doubt anyone will notice a thing. Unless you chose like a tutu or something.

PS

You look pretty good in that picture. You look kinda like a girl I know in some of your features. Hopefully your hormones will have some good effect!

Skinny jeans :) black ones. They're awesome. Basically I did exactly what you two are talking about, I just dressed more andro, after a while on hrt, people assumed I was a chick anyway. It made transition absurdly easy.

There is far too much awesomeness in this reply for me to even begin to parse them out.

Congratulations on your decision to take a step forward. I've been doing what you just described, letting a little bit more of myself out at a time. So far the results have been very favorable. And if I read the M shaped thing correctly, it's called a widow's peak. I have one myself although not defined enough to look like a point in the middle. It's not an exclusively male trait either. There are some very beautiful women that have them.

Hon, I know you probably hate me - but I just saw your pics - but you would totally pass.

From your description - I was expecting something like this:

All you need is to find clothes that make you feel comfortable and that make you feel like yourself and then go for them.
If you wanna go for andro clothes initially - you could go for them. But honestly you would definitely pass.

If you're not comfortable with female clothes. You would definitely look good in androgynous clothing. Just don't spend too much on them since your goal - I guess - is move to a more feminine clothing.

As for the makeup - you need to just experiment with it.

Never heard about BB-cream :o ... is it covering enough to actually cover up that darkness?

I use BB cream myself. The stuff I have doesn't cover the shadow, so I still need concealer for that. Luckily mine's not thick cause I'm in the middle of electrolysis. She's just thinning it out little by little.

I have been wearing strictly andro clothes for a couple of months, and my hair is very long too (2 or 3" past shoulder with tons of layers).

Sounds like you want to start slowly? I started with v-necks and girl cords. I went tight initially but the pants were dark so it downplays the tightness. It felt so great so I just kept buying more girl pants and now I feel comfortable wearing any style/color :) People generally can't tell the difference if pants are M/W. If they notice, just own it! Many men wear girls pants. They do fit way better... I mean, they actually FIT ;) (at least that's what I say if it comes up in conversation!)

As far as tops, as I said I started incorporating some v-necks as well as graphic tees that fit perfectly (not loose and baggy!). Some are mens and some are womens. I have since graduated to wide neck womens shirts that are semi-loose fitting and hide my still rather muscular arms. Right now those are my favorite, still within andro boundaries if you ask me.

Luckily the hair on my face is blonde/gingery so I cannot say how much it will help with dark bits. Prob not enough as Emily says, but if that is the case, even so combining concealer with something like that would still work and be less obvious than full on foundation, if that is what you want.

For the top half as I said it is winter here and it was a cold autumn so my jacket and scarf does most of it. I do have some jumpers that I wear though some girl ones some not. Depending on the style of such a top you can easily get away with wearing it without people "knowing". One of mine I wore in front of my bro and my Dad without them knowing for a whole posh meal situation.

I would not worry too much about your hairline though you know. I have starting taking finasteride but I do not have hormones yet so I had to stop it getting worse which hormones should do for you, they could even help a little regrowth I think... Course if your still unhappy with it that sucks but there is no point worrying about it since it is not getting worse. Just find a solution so you can talk to your hairdresser and find a good style to make sure it does not show, or if your rich get it sorted with a hair transplant one day.

It should stop it yes. Since it is caused by the hormone DHT of which a % of your testosterone is converted to.

You might want to look into Asian branded clothing that sells overseas. There is an abundance of Asian male clothing that Westernized countries deem as feminine or androgynous.

You can go into mac and have one of the makeup artist advise you want shades you would need.

Hm, does HRT stop it? doesn't those things happen for females too?

Yup, it does. But you need to start using HRT while the hairline is at a level from which it can recover from.
