Wearing a shirt?

I think this may have been asked before, but I couldn't find it . . . At what point, when on HRT, do you need to stop walking around around shirtless? I've seen plenty of men with large breasts who walk around shirtless, body builders, fat people, etc.

I'm sure everyone will have their own answer...for me, I became self-conscious of my nips before any significant breast growth.

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

My breasts became too obvious around 4 months in. Now I cant even go without a sports bra at work in my uniform.

After 8 months I am now at a B cup. I wonder how big they will get.

In the City of Portland, Oregon, it is legally acceptable for men and women equally to go topless without a care, if that's what they want to do.  From a social perspective (getting along with friends, family and neighbors), your best bet is to learn from experience.  Depending on the time and place, if you're sensitive to the discomfort of yourself and others, then you will have the answer to your question from direct experience.  All else is simply opinion and worth exactly what you paid for it.

I never was able to go shirtless in public without being uncomfortable. Until I discovered I was trans, it bothered me why. The only exception is when I went to swim. Even if I was still uncomfortable, I hated the sensation of a wet T-shirt even more.

Same here...I could've written this post!

That said, even though my brest development has been very minimal, I started "noticing" my nipples and became protective of them about a week in.  I don't think I would go shirtless at this point simply because I know something's changing about them, and I wouldn't want the attention, real or imagined.

Shirtless? I was never comfortable walking around shirtless even before I developed breasts in my teens. Then it was (now it is) awkward being pre-transition and pre-HRT but having breasts.  :-\

I was never comfortable with removing my shirt in public, nor did I ever think it was a good thing for anyone of any gender to remove their shirt in public. But past my opinions, the legal definition of indecency varies greatly depending on where you live. Look it up. Though as long as you're legally male, no one should be able to legally sue you for being shirtless if the law says "legally male".

Same. But I have to wear a shirt when swiming. The wet T-shirt doesn't bother me as much as not having a shirt on. WHich also bothered me until I put all the pieces of my life together and saw the truth.

Exactly!

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

I am still very small... plus I often forget to take my medications and even though I take double the day after I am afraid it is not as effective... I have already started with this very late ...:-(

I was never able to go shirtless even when swimming. Although I did get pressured to take off my shirt by friends while in a hot tub, which made me feel uncomfortable.

  • If you have to ask the question, then the answer is "now" in my opinion.
  • If you are taking hormones, then you should get into the habit of thinking like a lady, so clothe yourself, no matter how large you are on top.
OR, if in Oregon, then you can go without a top, at the risk of starting a riot.  :o

Same here.

Today I have perky A cups and their shape and the nipple protrusion make it pretty obvious what is going on so I am still keeping my shirt on. On the beach i had to quit wearing tank top t-shirts because it was starting to get obscene from the side view.

Whether or not you should go shirtless in public should be based on your own comfort level with your presentation. I see some older guys on the beach that need bras and they just go about their business and no one says anything so maybe you'll do fine.

This has been my issue for years as Mother Nature gave me very long hard nips from the start, being thin it makes them stand out even more.
I'm used to the stares even in boy mode wearing a tank top in the summer, and topless at the beach will be interesting this summer once I start HRT.
I might have to reconsider my clothing options soon ;)

Wow Michelle you seem to have a natural triple a cup. What I see in your picture is pretty much what I have after more than three months of HRT!!!!

Lucky you!!!

Congratulations,
Andrea

Thanx Andrea!

I'm kind of excited to see how they will fill out once I get some magic HRT in me!

You stop walking around shirtless when you don't want people to see you without a shirt. If you pass as cis then you'll probably freak a few people out but otherwise people will assume "man boobs"

At the point when your nipples & breast tips become erect (circa 2 months HRT), that sh!t looks weird if you don't pass as female.
