Who was Barabbas?

The point about Barabbas' followers is similar to Benedict's. But begs the point that, if Barabbas was such a nefarious crook, how would such a person have so many followers. He may have been an Al Capone or Kray type figure of course. But he isn't mentioned elsewhere.

But leaving aside your points for a moment, you pose the question why I ask.

I appreciate the claims about spiritual truths, but since spiritual truth relating to this story were at one point, used to justify the wholesale expulsion of Jews from England in the 1290s, not to mention the events that followed for the next 800 years, I suggest we could find similar truths from a book on calculus, suitable referenced.

Equally, I suggest that this point is valid for academic discussion. We're not referring to faith here. we're refering to what is suppose to be historical fact

Equally, why are some seeking to find reasons to take offense at what should be a perfectly academic historical inquiry?

If these things actually happened then they are fact.

I'm sure there is enormous spiritual context, but equally there is spiritual context in everything. Supposedly.
