Percocet is another name for Oxycodone, (Oxycontin) I never talk about dosages or anything like that I am not a doctor but I have been on a lot of medicine  for a lot of conditions. It is an opiate.

Oxycontin is actually not Percocet. It's another brand name which contains a different formulation of the same drug (time released and a much higher dose without the acetaminophen). Percocet is 5mg of oxycodone and 325mg of acetaminophen. But yes, Oxycodone is an opiate--derived from poppies just like most of our heavy duty pain killers.

Gosh...we are all sounding like Dr's on here.  But seriously, I too was given those awful percocets (a narcotic?) white tablet.  Just made me high, and I'm sure they are a drug of addiction.  I feel so much for you...You MIGHT be able to smash the migraine by drinking heaps of water.  Although it would hurt, I would sometimes run, through the pain and when my heart got back to normal it would be gone.

*Shrug* I've dealt with migraines for 13 years of the 29 I've been breathing on this planet. I probably have more experience with them than the average doctor. I've also been on Percocet for 9 years. So ya... The helpful advantages of being a sicko.

What can cure it? The injections? They also were talking about some sort of injection they could do.

I think they might of went with the percocets because the doctor was saying it seemed much more like a headache than migraine due to where it is and everything.
I don't really know what it is. all I know is nothing is curing it!! :'(
I don't have an actual family doctor. I can't afford it.

The only doctor of mine is my HRT one and I don't know if he'll prescribe me something. I was going to call him to see what he thought about headaches in relations to HRT. even if the odds of estradiol giving me this headache might not be too high, I still want to know what he thinks

and no. they didn't run any tests. all they did was ask me questions and look in my eyes+ears T_T
I guess I should probably head back there tomorrow.

I feel like I'm going to be stuck with this pain forever :(

If you don't know if it's a migraine, you really do need to go back to emergency as soon as possible, just to rule out anything more serious that can cause a prolonged, intense headache. Migraines suck, but at least they are relatively harmless to your body. Headaches can be a lot of things. I hope they at least took your blood pressure? That would rule out the most dangerous possibility.

I'm really sorry this is happening. And you will get it sorted out. I swear I thought I was dying the first time I got a migraine. But still breathing! All these years later.

Okay doctors orders - stopping meds for now and waiting a couple days to see if the head pains stop. Then calling back

by no surprise, the doc said it isn't them but to stay off the meds until its sorted. suggested me to see a family doctor.

that sounds great, but healthcare costs a fortune and I'm broke so it looks like I'm out of luck.

Friend is helping me out. Had no estrogen for about a week. Felt absolutely horrible and started it again. Dunno' if I should of since I was kind of not supposed to.
Saw a family doctor and was prescribed a Prednisone taper. She said I could keeping taking my hrt meds, but the other doctor said to stay off them until my headache was gone.

I was also off Spiro for a couple days when the doctor told me to. Since the pains didn't clear up, I started it again. I wasn't finished developing as a male before HRT and reverting to that is the last thing I want to do...

After 2 days back on E, I ran out and had lost my prescription.. so I went another 2 days without. In these 2 days, I started feeling a bit better.. still had the headache, but it wasn't as bad as it was. I was just really dizzy which I know was due to the lack of E since that's how I've felt when off of it before.

Then I started on E again and now my headache is back to how it was.

This makes me really paranoid. Surely, I would of gotten better in the week that I was off of it if it were really the cause the right?
Whereas this time, I was only off of it for 2 days and within an hour of popping the pills my head pains came back. If estradiol was giving me this headache, would it really fade and then come back strongly within like an hour of taking the pills? I highly doubt that stuff kicks in within a couple hours.. right?

It just seems coincidental, but also worries me greatly. I don't know if estradiol could actually relate to being the source. Like I said, I went without it for a week and didn't get any better. Then started the taper and a bit after went without E for a couple days again in which I started feeling a little better in terms of the actual head pains.. now I'm on it again and the head pains are just as they are.
How long does it take E to completely get out of your system? I mean, was waiting a week.. starting 2 days.. then getting off another 2 days going to relate..? (yes I know, I shouldn't be making my levels fluctuate like that. I wasn't expecting to not be able to get ahold of it)

Sorry if I'm sounding confusing. Its kind of hard to word..
And the head pain has also fluctuated greatly since I first got the headache 16 days ago.. so I don't know.

One doctor said to stay off of it, the other one says to stay on it. so I don't know.
Do you all think I should stop taking E or not? Should I stay off Spiro since I was only ever off of it a couple days?

Being off of it honestly feels worse than the headache does, but the headache isn't going away..

I just wish I knew for sure whether or not estradiol or sprio could be relating to it.. Like I said like 2 or 3 times, I was off of E for a week and Spiro for some days and the head pains didn't clear up. so I mean, would that confirm that it isn't the source?

It does take time for medication to leave the system, but thus far I don't think HRT is your problem.  But as always seek your Doctor's consul.

in that case, should I just stay off both estradiol and spiro until my headache clears up like my HRT doctor originally said?
  •

Ms. OBrien CVT

Ideally yes.  And then add them back in one at a time.  It can help narrow down which one.

alright. here we go then, no anything. this is going to be rough lol.

I was off for a while, then on for a couple days, then off for a couple days, then on yesterday, and now going to be off again.
is it rather unsafe to have bounced around this much? is it still okay to just drop them again now?

I figure after some time, if no improvement is made towards my head that I'd call my doctor up and let them know and ask if I can start again.
Would a week be long enough? I don't really want all my hrt progress going to waste and reverting to how I used to be..

Emmy,
First off, it seems you are getting over stressed and worried here, which will do nothing in helping your migraines to go away. Everything will be alright, take some deep breaths, find some ways to relax, and get both your mind and body to calm down. I know I posted this already to you, but, are you getting enough sleep, are you eating a healthy diet, etc.? - Look back on my previous post- Being off of HRT for a period of time will not completely reverse things and any loss will be regained quickly once you start hrt again. Right now, when you are stressed and you are in pain your body will really devote very little to feminization, rather choosing to use its resources for managing the stress this is causing. Secondly, when was the last time you had an electrolyte panel done, especially being on Spiro? Your potassium and sodium levels may be off, which could definitely cause migraines to erupt. If you look at many of the migraine prophylactic medications they regulate the sodium ion channels, which happens a lot in cellular (especially neuronal transmission), there is a reason for this and any investigation into migraines should include your serum electrolytes. Your best defense here is to drink a lot of water, 2-3 liters a day. Potassium and sodium are very closely related an increase in one will often cause a decrease in the other and vice versa. Estrogen would be quite rare to cause migraines, but you never know. As a medical professional I can provide you with more suggestions to work through with your primary care provider, but rather do it in a PM format, as such PM me if you continue to struggle.

thanks Megan.
yes, I'm kind of freaking out. :(

I don't even know what an electrolyte panel is. Googling says its a blood test that measures the level of electrolytes and carbon dioxide in your blood.
I honestly don't know if I even get them done. Whenever I get bloodwork done (every 4 months) I just take a slip of paper in there that has different things marked on it.
The last time this was done was within the past month. My HRT doctor always tells me my bloodwork looks great, but that's all I know on the matter.

I'm drinking a lot of water, but nothing with the head pains has really changed since I got it.. :(

I don't really know what I should even do.
I have a followup appointment with the family doctor I saw. The meds she gave me haven't really done anything..
