You have said you don't want to do this for some reason but you know how to solve this issue?

Put on weight.

HRT will thin your skin to about half the male thickness making it more translucent. Veins wil be more visible but most women have a large amount of subcutaneous fat which makes their skin look lighter and hides many veins. Veins stand out on underweight women. A healthy female with a mid-point BMI of 22 or so will have 25% of her bodyweight as fat compared to a male who would be around 17%.

Though, I think I was at 5-7% body fat a few years ago.

That is dangerously low. Below 5% in males can cause life-threatening illness, in women being below 11% is dangerous. Low body fat can compromise your immune system

I don't always drink properly, so can't that like make blood thicker and more visible?

Being dehydrated can allow bladder and kidney infections to develop. If your skin is thinning and you are dehydrated then your skin will dry out. Oestrogen causes much drier skin. Drink properly. You can live 3 weeks without food, but only 3 days without water - that is how important being properly hydrated is..

Yep, I am 6 foot and weigh in at around 9 stone. Cause of my crazy metabolism. My veins are bad for showing up, especially in summer. Can't wait till I am on hormones which hopefully will slow down my metabolism some and get me a nice sub-cutaneous fat layer :P

But it is not so bad, my mother is also extremely slim and sometimes when she loses a bit of weight is quite veiny too.

Well... my point was that there should be a lot more covering up my veins than before...

With what?

I am 5'8/120lbs, so I'm not actually that low... Anybody close to my weight who has these veins too?

You are the same height as me. Your minimum weight for that height should be about 130lbs and your ideal weight is about 150lbs. I am currently 172lbs and I am working towards getting down to 150lbs.

This +1.

It's not your veins growing, but you skin is becoming thinner and more transparent. You can see them clearer now vs. before. This is why women bruise easier compared to men. Thinner skin tissue.

@bev2
Well... because right now I'm a bit chubby,

Nobody is chubby with a BMI of 18.5  Anything under 17.5 is classed as anorexic.

Quote from: muuu on January 08, 2013, 05:42:02 PMwhich might sound strange, but I am. I was actually quite skinny before, so my coverage from veins should be greater now, even with skin thinning.

No. Before you were underweight with thicker, male skin which hid your veins. Now you are underweight with thinner skin which makes your veins visible.

Excuse me? Anorexia is an eating disorder, not a means of measuring your BMI. I have a BMI of 16.7 and am anything if anorexic. I eat constantly. 5'11" and 120lbs.

Anyway, I have extremely prominent veins as well. And man hands :( Both of which, fortunately, are genetic on BOTH sides of my family. My mom has man hands and even more prominent veins than mine, which makes me feel a bit better.
