You need LIGHT weight and high rep and avoid bulk / strength building like the plague. Plus if you do transition loosing muscle mass will be that much harder in the long run. I know that all too well.
I take it you were responding to FrozenValkyrie? Personally, I always stuck, when I exercised at all, to things like swimming and bicycling... endurance stuff that some of my early pics scattered here pretty much show my aversion to building even minimal upper body strength. For me that was a source of a kind of pride, since it was consonant with my sense of identity, whether anyone else was seeing it or not.
I did lots and lots of sit-ups, but could barely manage to meet the minimums when I was in the Army on push-ups. (And forget about pull-ups).
In fact, the DIs more or less faked my passing some of those standards in basic, I guess because they could see that I was trying, but just not getting any upper body strength, or likely to do so before the cycle was over. I think they must have had some sort of order to get me through, maybe because my test scores were high for my MOS, and they knew that those things wouldn't matter much at my eventual posting?
