Hi all.  I have a question RE: what to do with my nipple piercings as I go through HRT and (potential) breast growth.  For those with experience - did you simply leave the ring(s) in and see what happens, or did you pre-emptively take them out before/as the nipple-areolar complex develops?  Maybe just switch out for longer bars (keeping the same gauge)?

For what it's worth - one piercing was basically done though the nipple; the other is more at the base of the nipple, with a little areolar tissue included (two different piercers, two different occasions).  The rings are >5 yrs and well-healed; 14g.

I found some old threads RE: getting pierced AFTER the breasts have developed, but not RE: piercings BEFORE breast development.  I know "YMMV", but just seeking some first-hand experiences on this.

Thanks,
- Summer
You have suffered enough and warred with yourself - It's time that you won.

I had both mine done at the same time, about mid HRT actually all I have had to do was put in longer bars, both of mine are more in the areola

I am just going to post OMG how can you take the pain  :o secondly surely anything that is still expanding is not the best to pierce?
Awww no my little kitten gif site is gone :( sad.

That's a great question Summer.  I wish I had an answer but I have the same question myself.  I've had both mine pierced twice over the past twenty years and while they've both healed over (again) I'd love to have them done once more (for good this time).  I would think that if you leave room for expansion (longer bars) then you should be ok - but depending on the placement it might affect the shape as they grow - or not.   I know I've got scar tissue where my holes were and there are raised flesh there on either side of my nipples - I'm hoping that part just gets absorbed into the growing nipple.  If not I'll just run a needle through em again and fix it that way.

Thanks all.

@LilDevilOfPrada - the initial piercing pain isn't too bad...just about 15-30 seconds of this intense, burning pain.  But just as soon as the pain crescendos, it subsides, and you're left with something pretty and shiny (my opinion, anyway).

@Cyndigurl45 - did you have any increased nipple-areolar sensitivity because of the nipple ring (over and above any normal expected sensitivity due to HRT effects and breast growth).  I'm curious, since I usually wear tight-fitting, spandex tri-tops when I workout (basically like a racer-back sports bra) - I wear these underneath whatever else I'm wearing, and feel exposed/don't feel comfortable without them.

Some people use their nipple piercing to "train" their nipples for length. There are lots of specially designed bits of jewellery to this purpose.

OMG yes at first I almost took them out......  BUT,  I actually made little covers from dixie cups over my nipples, then put on my bra, I couldn't image wearing a sports bra then. I used them for about a week, by then all was good.......
