Estrogel in hand luggage?

Does anyone have experience of travelling with an Estrogel pump dispenser in hand luggage? The airport instructions say any gel container must contain under 100ml - but the pump dispenser just says 80g.

80g = 80ml

Good thing about metric measurement

Thanks - I've just discovered there's an exemption for prescription gel anyway.

In general prescription substances are exempt if they are separated for easier identification. (of course your results may vary with how anal security is)
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.

As a general rule (because I know how tetchy flight crews can be, and with good reason), I make sure any liquid medication has the pharmacy label on it showing that it's prescribed for me, and I tend to tell Security and the check-in clerk that I have liquid medication in my hand-luggage.

That way, if the flight crew has any concerns about you bringing it on board they can address them with you in advance - and you can argue your case that your meds are essential so you shouldn't be asked to surrender them to the hold. They feel a lot safer if you're upfront with them.

I once had the Purser come up to me mid-flight to tell me that the Captain wasn't happy about me carrying liquid medication and he'd asked whether the crew could store it in the galley for safekeeping. But because I had been totally upfront, friendly & co-operative she went back to the Captain and convinced him that I wasn't a threat so I kept my meds. But even if they'd insisted on keeping my stuff in the galley, it's better than being forced to keep it in the hold.

They'll probably just shrug it all off though. ;)

I'm only taking hand luggage (because stowage is an extra £30) so everything needs to be carry-on-able. I'll definitely tell them at the check-in desk, and the pump has a prescription label on it, so that should be fine.
