That is so sad, a truly tragic life.

I lost my spouse to a different liver disease a number of years ago.  We pulled her out of hepatic encephalopathy a couple of times.  In retrospect, if she (and I) had known what was going to eventually happen to her body and mind I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted us to do that and would have wished instead to have been allowed to go into a coma and die.
