My story goes something like this, I live as a man 80% of the time as of now. I am seeing a MTF friend, who is fulllll time since she was a teen. Anyway, we're not dating because I don't want to be committed as of now. However, I've talked to her about me wanting to transition. She is upset because she likes me as a guy. The question is...... Could you, as a transgender person, not like someone like you?

I've been very good at not liking me for a long time. Trying to get over that, but it goes slow. Maybe you were asking a different question? My brain hurt a little bit trying to parse that question.

You need to decide what presentation works for you, probably before you worry about who is going to be attracted. I'm constantly surprised anyone was ever interested in me in previous form, but my sense is, short of gluing a turd to my forehead, someone somewhere out there is bound to find me lovable in just about any form I can take. Actually, there are those who are really into scat... so that example is more about something the creeps me out and has little to do with what someone else would be attracted to.

Am a bit confused - you said you want to transition... but are you an mtf/ftm/androgyne... I know labels can be a pain - but simply trying to understand what both the other person and you are looking for in a relationship.

Personally, I don't really care... but then I am bisexual. But preferences change - and mine are starting to change.

My wife, who is post-op, says "I didn't go through all this to have sex with a woman.... I like men". I did my best for 30+ years faking that.

I think it depends on your orientation. I'm pansexual so I wouldn't really care so much if someone I liked changed their gender presentation, as long as they still had a personality I was attracted to. Maybe your friend is afraid your personality will change?
