finding the right doctor

Ive been shopping around for awhile now for a therapist that can actually give me the note I need to take to an endo so I can start my HRT, unfortunatly every place that I call in my city tells me that they cant help me. I have a friend (whom out of respect I wont out for this) who self medicates. she has had amazing results and recomended the site that she got them from. Im not a risk taker when it comes to my health so I want proffesional advice on how best to do it, which means going the legit route and seeing a doctor even though the other offer is... very enticing. I was hoping that someone here could recomend a good way to search or prehaps a specific website for this.

Depending on where you are, you can try and find an "Informed Consent" clinic.  Best of luck.... I'm currently shopping around also.

This is a tough one for me as the whole process was rather straight forward. I googled gender therapist and contacted the first one whose website came up. She is an LCSW who is very well known in her field of work. When I was ready for hormones she just gave me the card of a local endo who works with trans people and I had an appointment within a couple weeks and a prescription in my hand that day.

Just telling me your story has given me more information than I had before so I thank you! and congratulations! I actually found one my first time looking, but she had just moved to another state. I couldnt have afforded it then anyway. now however! lol

If you live where there is a university, many have a GLBT office or organization. I contacted the director of the one in my town, although I am not attending school. She was extremely helpful. In fact, she directed me to a provider in my community who has a trans sibling! This obviously was not advertised and I would have never known nor found her without the referral from the GLBT office. It has made all the difference to find a provider who is so understanding. Good luck in your search!
