I've got a question for those of you who have been through this before. I've been out as my real self (presenting as a woman) a grand total of two times. In terms of looks, I'm fortunate to pass well enough. If I was in a lineup with ten other women and someone said, pick out the dmab, I would probably be picked, but short of those contextual clues, I'm doing fine.
The problem is that in both cases where I've had to talk to others, I've choked a bit (and probably gave away my birth sex). All my voice practice goes out the window, and I sound a little like a woman in a Monty Python Skit (King of the who? Well, I didn't vote for ya). Assuming other women here stumbled out of the gate their first few times around the track, I'm wondering how long it took others to get comfortable in face-to-face encounters. (P.S. I posted on the RLE because I thought it would target those living full-time, where I hope to be by summer).
