When I came out to my mother, I followed up my visit with a book for her to read. She read it and we discussed it. I remember reading it myself and feeling like I was reading a biography of my own life. That's why I chose it for her to read. I've mentioned this in a few threads here, but could never remember the book. I finally found it today.

It was called True Selves: Understanding Transsexualism. It's a bit old, but I just ordered it again for myself to reread. Here's a link to it on Amazon:

crazy at the coast

My first therapist back in the nineties told me to read a book by John Money, that was a mistake, I stopped going to that therapist too.

The book you link to is a good one, I have it along with a few more clinical type books. I offered it to my father and other family members to read if they wanted to know more back when I came out, but they never did.
