Joe.

I'm over the moon. Today I got a letter through from my psychiatrist that was a copy of one that she sent to my GP. It was written back in the end of January from an early January appointment. Anyway towards the end of the letter it said (i don't want to say my female name so will just say name) 'Name is presenting with gender identity disorder'. This is a good thing isn't it? It finally means that it's real, it's not all in my head and a mistake like everyone seems to think. I haven't got this confused have I? This does mean things can start to move forward doesn't it? I don't know if I'm getting happy over nothing.

Yes that's a good thing.  That means you should be able to move on with things and get referred to a GIC, and that people are taking you seriously.  Hopefully other people will start to take you seriously now that you can say that you've been diagnosed officially as well.

You're also lucky that you got to see your letter, the only one I've ever seen I had to steal out of my dad's car.  Half of them never even got sent to my parents.

She said she's looking into referrals but it's been over a month now. Guess I just gotta be patient.

I've been quite lucky with camhs and they've sent me copies of letters that they've sent to my GP. That's only been 2 mind but it's more than nothing I guess.

There will still be people who think it's a mistake, because they don't want to accept it. But it doesn't mean it's all in your head, you don't need a letter to know who you are. :) But it is good because it gives you documentation for RLE and hormones and all that when the time comes.

That's true Caleb. I guess I just needed something to prove to myself it's not a lie or wrong. I'm not sure, I'm just happy I got the letter.
