Hi. My name is hope. I'm a 30 year old FTM living in North Carolina. I've come here for support and information. I was wondering how much you guys pay for testosterone and how much lab/blood work cost - both out of pocket. I have Medicaid but as far as I know they don't cover anything associated with "changing" genders. I know these cost will vary depending on a lot of factors but I'd like to get a good estimate because I have no clue how much either will cost me to the point of not knowing if it's even possible financially for me to transition anytime soon. Thanks in advance for your support and help =) ~hope

Hi Hope, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 10007  strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother.

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Welcome from the Pacific coast, Hope.  Check out our very active FtM forum!

Keep this in mind.  Reassignment surgeries are a fairly recent innovation.  Hormone therapies on started in the 1930s.  People like us, whether we are FtM, MtF, andogyne, or whatever, have found ways to cope with the dysphoria for thousands of years.

Hi Hope,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Unfortunately being on the other side of the "western pond" often referred to as the Pacific, I have absolutely no idea on your medical costs. i'm sure someone local will be round soon to shed some light on the matter.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine
