So for the first time I used to the guy's bathroom. It was an out of the way bathroom at the library during an lgbt group meeting and no one was even in it but it still felt pretty awesome. It seemed like a pretty big step, despite no one around to witness it.

Do you really want anyone to witness you going to the restroom though??  ;)
I can guarantee you, even if you had gone to the busiest men's restroom no one would have witnessed it, those places are all about avoiding eye contact! :laugh:
But yeah, congrats, hopefully it will soon be a common everyday experience for you.
