HRT Bllod work

Hi All,

I have my appt with endo to start HRT.  as I got my letter from my therapist.

But when I made the appt they said to bring my lab Blood work. I said I didn't have it and what did I need.  They said to ask my regular doctor.  So I have an appt next month but dont know where and what blood work to get to bring with me.  Endo is fairly booked so I don't want to use up my first appt for her to just tell me to get blood work and come back

Hi Kay,
Here is the list of what my doctor wanted for blood work, Your's might differ So I suggest that you call and ask for a list of what they want

1 CBC
2 Free Testosterone
3 Fasting Lipid panel (Total Cholesterol LDL, HDL, Triglycerides)
4 Fasting glucose
5 Prolactin
6 CMP ( Comprehensive Metabolic Panel ) Consisting of at lease
           a Liver function Test ( ALT, AST, Total Bilirubin, Akaline Phosphatase Albumin )
           b Electrolyte Panel (Na, K,  CO2, CL, CA )
           c BUN/CR

How long have you been on HRT and what have you seen change?  I am a "big girl" so I have high hopes for HRT.

Your very welcome Kay. I been on HRT for all of 16 days so no changes yet. But I have a weird sensation around my nipples. I don't know if its my imagination or not.

I just got my prescription from my Endo today too, but he says to take the blood test first before start popping those pills, because he need some baselines. He started me with a low dosage for 3 months first and then see how it goes from there. I'll post whatever test on the request form that he gave me later when i have a chance if you wish.

Kinda handy to get this question while i have my Pathology request in my hand...

Let's see what's on it:
Estradiol
FSH/LH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)
Testosterone (Free and Total)
SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin)
LFT.. (Liver function test)

This list does lack the usual HDL/LDL test.. Every so often she also adds Prolactin. And about once a year, I do a Fasting Glucose - my doc does this as I have a family history of diabetes.
