Joe.

Earlier today my mum said about having a 'girly day' this week and I said no and my dad said I don't think she'd want to do that and it's not the right word and she said ok then how about a mum and daughter day and my dad said I don't think that's the right word either. I know it's only a little thing but he's gone from being completely non accepting to sticking up for me like this. It felt good and I just wanted to share.

That's awesome man, and I hope you and your mom have a nice mother-son outing together.  ;D

It really is the little things that matter. I was so happy when I was moaning to my girlfriend about needing the toilet when I was in town and her saying I should just piss up a wall. I'm not physically capable but that didn't matter at all.

Sounds like your mom may come around. It often takes parents awhile. Strange as it may sound, your mom may need to grieve the loss of her daughter (I know she never had one but she doesn't know) for awhile. Sounds like your dad could do some pulling for you and may help her out.
Awesome!

The little things are brilliant. Tonight they said about mothers day and me being a mum to my hamster and my dad said no you have to wait for fathers day for that. I could barely contain the smile.

I know he still doesn't get it, but he's really trying and making an effort and I love him so much and have the upmost respect for him.

"and I love him so much and have the upmost respect for him."

I bet he feels that way about you, too.

That's a good start. Maybe he can help you work on your mum; she still seems to be sailing down that famous Egyptian river. ;)
