Strange Ways Of Raising Money For Top Surgery?

Other than some of the conventional ways of raising money for top surgery like taking out loans or working at a job, how have some of you guys raised mone for your top surgery or how are you currently raising the money?  Do/did you have any strange or funny ways to increase your fund?  Feel free to discuss them here!

I'll start:

I just got done digging under the couch to see if I could find more money to put into my top surgery fund.  I dug earlier and found .11 cents and my second round of digging earned me an additional penny.  I felt like a winner.  I'm still trying to recover from the dust in my nose, but it was worth it.  Every cent counts.  Hopefully, one day when I have a flat chest, I'll be able to look back on that moment with a big smile on my face and say, "Thank you Mr. Penny, for helping me.  You have been well spent."

Granted, I'm far from my goal and getting a job is the best way to go, but even then, I think it will still be the stranger ways of saving that will remain close to my heart.

So what are your stories of strange or unconventional ways of saving, if you have any?

I was thinking of starting an etsy account. I knit and crochet a lot, so I could easily quickly make up some purses, scarves, etc. to sell at reasonable prices. People sell a ton of stuff on there, even baked goods.

Edit to add: If you like working out, sign up for some marathons, half marathons, bike races, etc. Some of them give out cash prizes (or heart rate monitors) to the winners.

Yeah, this is pretty sweet. lol. Talk about a really aggressive earning/saving campaign. I'm impressed.

I have horrible cardio, I would pass out after the first quarter mile....probably before that.

I wish we had festivals around here that I could work.  The way that guy was finding money and "treasures" was crazy. 

I've sold a few thing on Craigslist and in a strange way I think about how I'm really just trading that stuff to get rid of the boobs.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but did you try Fiverr? If you haven't heard of it, you just basically sell any service you want for 5 bucks. Like anything, draw a picture, record yourself doing something stupid, write a poem, anything you feel like offering to do for a few bucks. People are also on there with requests of what they'd like someone to do for them.

I think you only get 4 out of the 5 bucks (the rest goes to fiverr). I haven't tried it yet. But if you're looking through couch cushions for 12 cents, ought to give it a shot. Bet a motivated person could make those 4 bucks a service add up.

Yeah the bizarre section on Fiverr has some really funny services people offer, like "I'll read you a story while sounding like Sean Connery for Five Dollars".  You can see how many orders the people get too, so you can figure out what crazy nonsense people are willing to pay for.

Also, if you have any graphic design talent or anything there's people who want 'real' requests like Twitter backgrounds made, or even design for websites. You can charge more than $5 for stuff too.

I've never done anything on there, but I think they payout through Paypal, so it should be secure and everything. They do take out a paypal fee in addition to the Fiverr fee, so take that into account when thinking about what is worth $5 to you, it's really like $3.80. It still adds up though!

I'm going to donate my eggs.   I'm not using them anyway so I figured I might as well donate them to people who need them.

I've been tempted with Fiverr to raise money that way as well.

I've been to Fiverr's website a few times and wow I'd be doing some silly things.  Only thing that's stopped me was not having a paypal account....or bank account for that matter. >.>

I think there's a certain search engine that could rack up some amazon credit or cash over a year or so if it's used.  I forgot the name of it.

I'm on Inbox Dollars. It's free to join and you can earn cash in a variety of ways.  You get a $5 sign-up bonus and then various other things let you earn more money.  Every $30 allows you to get a check in the mail.  I'm using it right now and my friend also uses it. ^^

You have to be really careful because some of those "opportunities" are straight scams, or you make so little money for something it's not worth it.

There's a lot of legit freelance work out there though, especially if you know anything about graphic design or web development.  Fiverr is real and not a scam, by the way - that's not what I am referring to.

I get what you're saying, spacerace.  I do my own extensive background checks of anything before I proceed further.  I'm pretty througoh about that stuff. I hate to lose money.
