I recently started playing DayZ, and I had an insane experience today.
After spawning, I made my way to Cherno to try and find more supplies. There were some medical tents near the factory, so I went inside and got 10 bandages. Just as I left the tent, a bandit climbed down from the roof of a nearby building and started shooting at me. Luckily, he was an awful shot and didn't get me once. I kept running and hiding behind walls so he wouldn't get me, and then eventually the gunfire ended and I was safe.
Next on my trip was the Balota airstrip. As soon as I arrived, I saw a helicopter. Out of curiosity, I decided to walk over and see if it was working. A few seconds later, some guy started shooting at me, so I ran as fast as I could into the woods, where I patched myself up with bandages and called out for help on the chat. Eventually, another player came along the road in his car and performed a blood transfusion on me, and went off about his business.
After that, I spent a while going from town to town, looking for supplies in churches.
