So, I have been on the fence about these products from this new company...some of them look ok, and others look kind of blotchy and strange (bad hair!), but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt since they seem to have all the features of the RM prosthetics, including a "flex rod".  I've been emailing them asking questions about the products, and one of the questions was regarding their flex rod (I already own a RM with a flex rod).  The response I got was oddly familiar in some way.  Like many of us I'm sure, I've been on RM website many times...so I've read about their products numerous times.  Something in the response I got from Emisil sounded familiar, and after some checking, I found out why.

I highlighted the familiar text from Emisil's email to me, and the corrosponding text from RM website:

Seems odd that they would just blatantly copy and paste something from another website (isn't that illegal?)...seems like they not only are copying their product, but also the text directly from their website.  Sorta makes me re-think my order with them...doesn't seem like they are too innovative.  Let's hope if they did copy they at least got it right.  I'll definitely review it once I get it.

Maybe they just copied and pasted it to make sure they got the English right lol. I think someone said they are in Russia. (My gf is a non-native English speaker, and I am always telling her, don't try to make up your own way to say something, just copy how others talk, that way you know you'll get it right!)

I'm totally kidding--I have no idea why they did that!

As far as legality goes, I'm not sure descriptions of products on a website count as "intellectual property" and thus would be protected by copyright laws. Maybe one of our more law-savvy members can "speak to that."  :D

Either way, it's definitely fishy!!

The only thing I can think of is if they use the same supplier for the flex rod and this is the description they provided.

I actually had the same thought after I posted this.  Just out of curiosity, I emailed RM and asked them about the description.  This was their response:

"Hello Cody,

We appreciate you contacting us.  The information on our website is all original copyrighted material, and does not come from any manufacturer.  Thank you again, and have a good evening:)"

Doesn't sound good for Emisil...I hope they aren't reading these posts.  Hopefully RM isn't reading these forums either...I also kinda feel bad for talking about ordering another company

Well if they are in Russia, I have heard this is like the Wild West in business practice. They wouldn't think anything of copying something like this. Not sure what RM can do about it. I am thinking not much, since they are in Russia. If they were in Western Europe it might be different.

I really don't think of it as a huge deal, honestly.  Not saying it's right to copy directly from another site, but it's only, what, two lines?  And how many ways are there to describe a flexrod, anyway?

I hope nothing too horrible happens to the company before they have a chance to prove themselves via their products.   We desperately need more reliable and affordable prosthetics options.

I am glad that Cody brought this up, though, because it IS a little fishy and tiny things can pile up and lead to larger things (like in the UP situation...)

What makes you think they're a Russian company? It says Amsterdam somewhere on the website. I also believe he probably just wanted to make sure his English was correct......
While I agree that this doesn't help me trust this new company, I honestly don't care if they "stole" the description from Reelmagik (the idea itself has been around a lot longer), as long as they are not promising a product they can't deliver. I would definitely pay via Paypal to minimize the risk.

The Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania, Russia.  They seem to be located all over the place.

As someone who is a high advocate of originality... how many different ways can you really describe the flex rod?  Their entire e-mail was not copied word for word, only a single line was.

Honestly, it is obvious that Emisil looked long and hard at what RM was doing right, and produced their own version of it. If you have a problem with it, don't buy from Emisil; and never buy a phone or other technology, etc again because all companies are doing this --Taking from someone else and building upon it.  It's something you have to deal with as an engineer of product.  Expect it.

Emisil's products look very different from RM, they are not duplicates.  At this point, idgaf how this product is being made, just as long as something is being made that meets our needs.. i'm not waiting over 6 months for a prosthetic to get delivered to me and i'm not going to spend $600 on something I don't really like.

RM has all of my respect. But if Emisil is able to produce something that fits my needs better than RM does, I am going to purchase from Emisil.

A very minor thing to worry about.

I find it interesting that with all the people wondering where they are located. No one has asked them.

I will do so.

Update: Click link for their address.

Though I suppose there would be some natural similarity. The way they do this is make a mold of someone's penis. At least that's how this guy I know does this.
