First of all, I walked in and Tatiana's jaw dropped when she saw me, (first time since just after the mandible surgery) She said she couldn't believe how good I looked, and I walked into Mira's office and she had the exact same reaction. I said that must make you feel god when you are part of the team helping women achieve results like this.

She made me a letter to take to the passport office and we she gave me a free consultation on my BA that I am having with Dr Kunaporn! That took up close to an hour of her time, I tried on a 500 and a 350, she told me that I probably don't want to go over 600 and I think I agree.

Then we discussed my lip lift and she says I can bring it up higher if I want and they will do it for free.

We also just chatted for awhile about different stuff, she also got Doug on the line to say hello. These are all really wonderful people and I consider them my friends. That's why when people attack Doug, I feel like it's an attack on me.

Hi Melissa,

Congratulations!

Is a lip lift to make the upper lip fuller or to reduce the space between the upper lip and the bottom of the nose?

Thanks.

Wendy,
Its to reduce the distance between nose and lip.

From your avator photo Melissa, I don't think you need it.
Though I admit the photo is not the highest quality.

Also, often when they lift the lip, they also unroll it somewhat which makes it appear bigger (it shows more of the red part). So, it has a double utility.

Seeing as to the possibility of scaring, I'd be afraid myself to do it.
Though My lip already lets 3-4 mm of teeth show so I would look like a
beaver if they pulled the lips higher ;-). If I eventually do it, I'd try
lip suspension. Its a new fully reversible method that leaves no scars, which is good when you only need a minor lift.

Dr O's procedure doesn't leave any visible scarring, the incision is made underneath the nose and heals nicely. I still want to show more upper teeth, the only reason that I would not have it is that I have to pay the hospital expense, I have to figure out whether the cost is worth it.

Unfortunately, I can't practically re-do the augmentation because Doug utilizes skin that is taken form the scalp reduction, he unequivocally states in his procedure that he is not happy with the results of this procedure but it is the better than using synthetics or fat.

If the upper lip is taken too high, gums will show when the patient smiles broadly, this is a result that would not happen when done by a skilled surgeon such as Doug Ousterhout.

As one ages, gravity sets in and one usually loses that upper teeth look, so maybe it's something you would want to do later in life, and who knows what procedures will be available in the future.

I agree that they are wonderful people and do make you feel very comfortable. :)

Melissa9,

Doesn't the skin stretch over time so that you can have a larger BA after the initial smaller BA?

Thanks.

I have a lady friend who had FFS with Dr. Ousterhaut.  She talks very highly of him and is very pleased with the results of her surgery.  He is quite a gentleman, I hear. :)

I know that sometimes I sound like a spokesperson for Doug but he deserves it. Mira had no obligation to me to spend an hour giving me a consultation for a BA that I am having with another surgeon.

BTW she told me that a friend of hers hosted my BA/SRS surgeon when he came to the US and she says he (Dr Kunaporn) is a real sweetheart.

We have no one in Dr Ousterhout's league in the U.K......

Resources are limited here and it's very hard to track down a good maxillo facial surgeon. I will be contacting him soon and I have heard very good reports about him. I sometimes wish I lived in America....

I know a couple girls from the U.K. who came over to be worked on by Mark Zukowski in the Chicago area.

It's a shame there are no picture examples on the Zukowski site....

Well we have one here.  Kassandra is just recovering from her FFS/BA surgery with Dr. Z.  I got to go to the pre-op visit with her.  This guy is such a charmer!
