Have you changed your Gender Marker on your social security and birth certificate? I'm just wondering b/c your gender marker is not shown on your social security card. Just wondering if any of you guys cared to change it b/c of that?

I don't even know if my gender marker has been changed with my social security or not...? I mailed a copy of the note my endo doctor wrote me to get my gender marker changed for the stuff I needed to change it with, but I have not the slightest clue as to whether or not they corrected the gender on there...? I feel very awkward calling and asking after a year if my gender marker has been changed with them or not, just too uncomfortable for me.

I didn't change my birth certificate for religious reasons either. So my birth certificate still reads my female name and has my female gender marker on it. I don't think I'm ever gonna change that b/c of my religious reasons. Anyone else not changing their birth certificate for whatever reason?

Don't you have to have some kind-of surgery to change it on your SS card and birth certificate?

I don't know...? When I went to the social security office to change my name the lady told me that I needed a note from a doctor to get my gender marker changed there. There was no privacy down there so I just mailed in a copy of the note my endo doctor gave me, but I have no idea if it has been changed or not.

I haven't done the birth certificate yet, but my court order specifically states that my gender is changed and that I am to be issued a new birth certificate.

When I went to the SSA to change my name there, my gender was changed too. Even though it's not listed on the card, it's in their records. Yeah, their web site seems to state that the gender can only be changed after surgery, but they changed mine because of the explicit text in my court order.

I've changed everything but the BC. My birth state won't issue a brand new BC; it issues a copy of my current BC with some kind of stupid little card affixed to it. So I didn't quite see the point. I know that I can use my passport as a substitute for the BC, but I'm still bothered that the BC can't be fully changed.

I updated my info with Social Security after my top surgery just to get it all over with.

I think things have changed lately with SS, I am not hearing that anyone is asking for GCS right now. Have even heard of it with just T.
Basically kind of depends on who reads the letter and how it is written, maybe more the latter than the former.
