Joe.

To the people in the UK, did you watch Waterloo Road last Thursday? It featured a storyline about a girl who feels she is a boy. It made me think about my own situation as I'm a similar age. What did anyone think if it?

Yeah I understood completely. Even the part when she hit the wall. It really hit home a few times for me.

Luckily my school is really understanding about it.

Yeah same, I can't believe what they're gonna make them wear. It just makes me wanna shout at the tv.

I went to iplayer to watch it but couldn't get past the first five minutes. I should have known better than to watch stupid teenage drama programmes; they piss me off so much. No matter what sort of issue they try to tackle or how freakish the kids depicted are, they're still far more normal than I ever was as a teen. Bleh.

I'd really consider trying to bare this one to the end to see what you think. I think they did it brilliantly. My parents are going to watch it to try and understand more. It shows the reality of being trans in school and the anger she portrayed I could relate very closely to.

I wasn't trans in school, so I won't relate. The trans bull->-bleeped-<- seems to just be the latest in a long line of desperate efforts to be a special little snowflake. I shouldn't have posted in here, I'm dragging it off-topic. Sorry.

I'm not out in school, only to a few teachers so I can't relate to that. But I can relate to the anger and hurt she felt when she was confused and had to hide her feelings of being a boy inside. It also makes me wonder how my brother would react. Anyway, I thought it was good and worth watching for anyone out there who is interested.

No worries, I appreciate the input.

I thought it was pretty good. Everyone still calling Kacey female pronouns at the end made me wince a bit (I'm just getting to the stage of not being able to keep coping with them so it resounded with me, rather than thinking that they should change pn's without talking to Kacey you understand). I've gone through K's problem at the end of last time but with a little less violence, and it looks like this next episode's thing of being forced into female clothes is going to be ringing some personal bells too.

Did anyone think that Barry was going to do a heel-face-turn at the end?

And to the person who doesn't watch this stuff - me neither! It really grates on me sometimes, but the occasional good plotlines (and if I'm honest, the hope of an FtM one) have kept me watching. Can't stand soaps, especially kiddy ones, but obviously they're doing something right...just.

I'm at college, (say nothing - I AM in my twenties, not a teenager) and I swear this program's gonna out me, (I'm in a course with only 17-19 year old girls, heaven help me) so they all watch it, and I'm going to have to face that on Friday. Admittedly I'm not exactly being subtle, but still would have rather left it until the course was over! Eh, was going to ask my new placement to use my chosen name anyway so maybe this is god's way of saying 'go for it all at once, I'm sure you'll do great'!

Yeah i can understand that they cant seem to get it right in story lines in soaps, i have heard about there was one in hollyokes and heard that it was bad and made alot of mistakes or something.

In a way i guess they try and make it like if it was real life and sometimes it can go to far. Like imogen i think she breave to tell her bf that she was deaf and i love how when she takes them out you hear sort of nothing but muffle sounds, im deaf so i think they done a sort of a good job with her.

Also i didnt like waterloo road i thought it was like hollyokes kind of thing so i only just gotten into it no thanks to my friend.  :-\
